Former Department of Homeland Security whistleblower Philip Haney – known for exposing how political correctness compromised national security during the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations – was found dead Thursday of a gunshot wound to his chest near his residence outside of Sacramento, California, World Net Daily reported on Saturday.

The circumstances of his death are still under investigation. Two officers of the Amador County Sheriff's Office confirmed Haney's death to WND but had no further information. (Note: Later reports claim that Mr. Haney was found shot through the chest, outside his car, in what police characterized as "suicide)."

Haney delivers remarks upon accepting A.F.A.'s Freedom Award in Spring 2017. He elucidated in his book how Obama had his administration force his demotion after his complaining about managers deleting thousands of Dept. of Homeland intelligence records on Islamism in the U.S. and their international networks.

Haney, 66, was the co-author, with Art Moore, of the bestseller "See Something, Say Nothing," which chronicles his repeated conflict with his agency over its policy of Countering Violent Extremism. The policy was shaped in large part by Islamic supremacists and political appointees who minimize or dismiss the relationship of Islam to terrorism.

His agency's response to his efforts to identify terror threats – including the networks that later were responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing and the San Bernardino massacre – was to eliminate his intelligence, shut down his cases and punish him.

For more than a decade, whenever there is a festive evening in France, cars are set on fire in districts where poor people live. Unassimilated migrants have their own traditions.

Macron now has the support of the entire Socialist party, and the support of virtually all other politicians. He also has the support of all French Muslim organizations. The rector of the Great Mosque of Paris said that Muslims must "massively vote" for him. The Jewish community leaders also rallied on behalf of Macron. On May 7, he will likely get more than 60% of the vote.

Most will not be based on the support for a project; the risk is high that Macron will disappoint the French even faster than Hollande did. The French may quickly discover that he is just a man chosen by the French left to preserve an unsustainable status quo a little longer, and a member of the self-appointed élites who do not care about ordinary people's problems, who consider that terrorist acts are "imponderable events", and who believe that national identities can melt in a no-border globalized world. When the French discover who Macron is, there will be nothing they can do to change what they voted in.

NYC & West Coast 9/11 firefighters unite at tribute documentary; How have they (and we) evolved to protect us since 2001?

In 1994, November Productions' filmmaker Kevin Dornan created a multimedia tribute to firefighters from various parts of the United States. New York was the first location for the filming, and Dornan met with firefighters from across the city before choosing Mike Weinberg. Over the course of several days, Dornan recorded, both on film and in still photography, the life of a firefighter. 

The project was discontinued after Dornan finished shooting New York. 

Dornan only learned that Mike was killed at the 9/11/01 World Trade Center attack six months later. Dornan completed "Liberty, Courage, and Hope: The Portrait of an American Hero" as a tribute to all the first-responders whose lives were taken in rescuing victims of al-Qaeda's attacks. 

What had originally been intended as a celebratory documentary of living American firefighters-is now a bittersweet remembrance of a brave soldier. 

The movie trailer was not available at press time, but here is a memorial montage to Mike Weinstein. 

From the varied depictions of the everyday life of a firefighter to the now-fateful final dialogue, this film, now narrated by Alec Baldwin,  is one to be viewed as its own inspirational portrait.

"We as a nation need to heal, and by having even one story of hope and bravery can keep the memory our heroes with us forever," writes Mr. Dornan.

The Museum of Tolerance held the West Coast premiere of "Liberty, Courage and Hope: The Portrait of an American Hero," followed by a question-and-answer session with director Kevin Dornan on September 11th, 2014.

The Shin Bet’s release of the names of suspected kidnappers Amer Abu Aysha and Marwan Kawasme on Thursday night dominated headlines in Friday’s Hebrew papers, which profile the Hamas operatives at length.

Haaretz, Yedioth Ahronoth, and Israel Hayom provide nearly identical accounts on Abu Aysha and Kawasme, both missing from their homes since June 12 — the day of the kidnapping of Eyal Yifrach, 19, Gil-ad Shaar, 16, and Naftali Fraenkel, 16.

The papers report that the operatives were suspected by the Shin Bet immediately, and their houses in Hebron were raided in the days following the kidnapping. The two were well known to the Israeli authorities, the papers maintain, having been arrested and held in Israeli detention on multiple occasions for their alleged terrorism activity.

Kawasme was arrested five times, and in 2004, at the age of 18, spent 10 months in an Israeli prison. In 2010, in the course of an interrogation, Kawasme confessed to belonging to Hamas: He conceded that he had been involved in training operatives in caves around Hebron, that he oversaw the obtainment of materials to produce explosives, and that he recruited youngsters to the terror group. He was released in 2012.

Abu Aysha was arrested on two separate occasions, in 2005 and 2007, for involvement with the terror organization. His family has close ties to the organization.

Yedioth quotes a security official who maintains the two did not act alone, and that a number of detainees presently in custody may have assisted them. “It will take time, but eventually we will get our hands on them,” he said.

Across America, the morning of September 11, 2001 began routinely, with news and radio broadcasts sharing local human interest stories and traffic reports. But by 9:00 AM, the day's narrative had taken a tragic turn. Most of us are familiar with the national news coverage of 9/11, but the local reporting from TV and radio affiliates across the nation was no less important and no less compelling. "9/11- The Heartland Tapes" is an account of the tragedy as it unfolded, and as it aired in American cities large and small, told without narration or interviews.

DemoCast caught-up with Executive Producer Tom Jennings following his panel at the Society for Professional Journalists conference in Anaheim in August.



Consulting producer, Liza Maddrey, discusses the need for this documentary, a dozen years after the event.

Wave-rider turned wave-maker, "Surfing Rabbi" Nachum Shifren weds Canadian bride on Malibu Beach

"Surfing" Rabbi Norm ("Nachum") Shifren and betrothed Canadian, Rachel, of Edmonton, Alberta, held their wedding ceremony on Malibu Beach, California on Monday evening, 22 July 2013.  Among the attending family and friends were surfers and bay-watch lifeguards. Malibu Rescue generously positioned a fire boat in the background for ambience for the wedding of their old friend.  The wedding was officiated by Rabbi Aaron Parry, witnessed by brother Rabbi Moshe Parry. 

Educator, Rabbi Shifren, has crusaded to improve America's "broken" urban school systems.  He is also recognized for courage in standing-up against the spread of political Islam throughout Western society.  Shifren is known as for receiving political endorsement of conservative-leaning people of diverse ethinicities and faiths. Rabbi Shifren is planning to challenge incumbent leftist Rep. Maxine Waters for the congressional seat which she has occupied.
