"Biden has a secret, illegal deal with Iran that gives mullahs everything they want" - N.Y. Post Opinion

In the latest phase of an unacknowledged and unlawful nuclear deal between the United States and Iran, President Joe Biden this week formally approved giving the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism another $6 billion — ostensibly for the release of five Americans held hostage in Tehran.

But in bypassing Congress to avoid a political fight he knows he’d lose, Biden is not only guaranteeing more hostage-taking of American citizens, he’s also subsidizing Iran’s terrorism, military support for Russia, nuclear-weapons capabilities and repression of Iranian women. 

In May, a top White House official visited Oman to pass a message to Tehran: Washington wants to broker a nuclear deal in secret.

Biden would lift sanctions restrictions on Iranian funds held outside its borders, and in exchange Iran would slow its steady march toward a nuclear-weapons threshold.  

Iran would be free to continue hunting former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former National Security Adviser John Bolton, former Special Envoy for Iran Brian Hook and other Americans.

Tehran could keep directing attacks against Israel through its Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror proxies.

The mullahs could keep providing armed drones to Vladimir Putin for use against the Ukrainian people.

The regime could even keep producing high-enriched uranium just a stone’s throw from weapons-grade, manufacturing advanced centrifuges, developing longer-range missiles, denying access to international nuclear inspectors and constructing a new underground facility that could prove invulnerable to military action. 

Biden’s only demands: Don’t move across the nuclear threshold by producing weapons-grade uranium and release five American citizens held hostage in Iran.

For Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the deal was a dream come true.

On the nuclear front, Iran gives up nothing. The United Nation’s nuclear watchdog last week reported that Iran is still expanding its stockpile of high-enriched uranium, just at a slower rate.

As for the five American hostages — at a cost of $1.2 billion a person — Khamenei will merely restock his collection of American hostages for a future extortion racket.  

Meanwhile, Iran gets to use billions of dollars in budget support to subsidize a wide range of illicit activities. 

Gabriel Noronha previously served on the Iran desk at the State Department and maintains contacts there and in the National Security Council and European Union who are directly involved in the negotiations. His colleagues were so appalled at the concessions the US gave Iran that they asked him to leak details:

In June and July, the Biden administration unfroze more than $10 billion of Iranian assets held in Iraq, allowing Baghdad to move payments for Iranian electricity into accounts in Oman established for Tehran’s use — payments that will continue on a rolling basis.

Now comes $6 billion more transferred to accounts in Qatar, providing the regime additional budget support.

Multiple reports also suggest Washington is allowing Tehran to trade $7 billion in International Monetary Fund special drawing rights for fiat currency. 

At the same time, US officials now admit they’re allowing Iranian oil exports to China to skyrocket with estimates ranging from 1.4 to 2.2 million barrels per day flowing in August — their highest levels since President Donald Trump ended America’s participation in the old Iran nuclear deal.

Conservative estimates put this sanctions relief at $25 billion in annual revenue. Iran is now eyeing the transfer of another $3 billion from Japan.

All told, this is at least a $50 billion protection racket — not just a $6 billion hostage payment.                              (article continues after break)

"Bolton, Netanyahu Call For 'Greater Pressure' On Iran"

(Aug. 20)  Meeting in Jerusalem, White House national-security adviser John Bolton and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have called on European countries to increase pressure on Iran.

Bolton told Netanyahu on August 20 that the United States saw the "highest importance" in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and that's why President Donald Trump withdrew from the "wretched" nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

"It's why we've worked with our friends in Europe to convince them of the need to take stronger steps against the Iranian nuclear-weapons and ballistic-missile program," Trump's national-security adviser added.

Trump and Netanyahu have been closely aligned on their approach to Iran since the U.S. president took office in January 2017.

Trump has consistently looked to increase pressure on Tehran to bring about what his administration has called a "change in behavior" regarding its weapons programs and its "destabilizing" activities in the region, accusations Iran denies.

In May, Trump pulled out of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal that Iran signed with six world powers and has reimposed sanctions that had been eased as terms of the accord.

Calling the agreement "disastrous," Netanyahu said that "all countries who care about peace and security in the Middle East should follow America's lead and ratchet up the pressure on Iran," in what was considered a veiled reference to European countries.

"The greater the pressure on Iran, the greater the chance that the regime will roll back its aggression," he added. "And everybody should join this effort."

U.S. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry may be able to force Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, under threats and pressure, to sign a "framework agreement" with Israel.  But as this week's rally of hatred in the Gaza Strip shows, even after the signing of a Palestinian-Israeli "peace" treaty, a large number of Palestinians will not abandon there dream of destroying Israel.

A mass rally held in the Gaza Strip on March 23 showed that Hamas continues to enjoy popular support among Palestinians. Tens of thousands of Palestinians took to the streets to attend the rally commemorating the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.

Palestinian Authority [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas has good reason to be worried in the aftermath of the latest show of force by Hamas. When tens of thousands of Palestinians take to the streets of the Gaza Strip to call for the destruction of Israel and an end to the peace talks between the PA and Israel, it is clear that a large segment of Palestinian society remains opposed to any compromise with Israel.

The pro-Hamas rally is also aimed at sending a message to the U.S. Administration that Mahmoud Abbas does not have a mandate to sign any document that declares an end to the conflict with Israel.

Prof. Barry Rubin's death revives interest in video interview about his views on west's Mid-East policies

Barry Rubin, a prominent Middle East policy analyst, died in
Israel on Monday following an 18-month struggle with lung cancer. Prof. Rubin survived just past his 64th birthday.  He is survived by his journalist wife, Judith Colp Rubin, and their daughter and son.

Barry Rubin’s reach in the world of Middle East scholarship was broad and deep.  He served as director of the Global Research in International Affairs Center at the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center, a columnist at The Jerusalem Post, the editor of the Middle East Review of International Affairs and a contributor to the PJ Media website.

History-buff Rubins participated in Civil War re-enactments

Rubin, a D.C. native, had been a Fulbright scholar and a fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations. He received his doctorate from Georgetown University in 1978. He was a noted skeptic of Palestinian nationalism, saying that Islamism was too deeply embedded in the region to accommodate a true peace with Israel.


“Clearly, the Obama administration does not understand Middle Eastern regimes and terrorist organizations, and if it doesn’t, it will meet miserable defeats,” he wrote on Jan. 12 at PJMedia.

His passing revives interest in his ideas. We re-publish an article of Mr. Rubin's on the Obama administration's Middle East policy, supplemented with a TV interview he did with us in 2011.

It is likely that the efforts of the Obama Administration during its second term will fail, not only because of its lack of understanding of the region and its ideology, but also due to the specific agenda.  No Middle Eastern country (only hostile ones or movements) can depend on the United States.  And to clarify this further:  No country -- including Israel -- can depend on the Obama Administration.

But as I noted above, this U.S. policy of Obama’s second term will fail. For example, the main goals of the second term are four big issues:

1)  Israel-Palestinian peace

2) Egypt government coalition with Muslim Brotherhood

3) Syrian civil war resolution with rebel victory

4)  U.S.-Iran rapprochement resolving nuclear issue.

Yet because of irreconcilable differences, these may well be unresolvable. Due to such failures and hardline radical positions (Palestinians, Muslim Brotherhood, Syrian Islamists and regime, Iranian regime), the next administration would probably be forced back on recognition of extremism, support of allies, and U.S. interests.

Thus, regarding the “peace process,” we may well see the typical pattern in which the Palestinians wreck the peace process by rejecting or demanding even more concessions. Once again, it will only be necessary to wait until American negotiators learn better why their goals are impossible. Radicals will just raise their demands and demonstrate their anti-Americanism, and necessary priorities will shift.

First Persian-American mayor commemorates 150th birthday of Theodore Herzl, forefather of Jewish nationalism, to advocate for vigilance against religious persecutors

The City of Beverly Hills honored the memory of Theodore Herzl, the forefather of re-establishing Jewish self-determination in Judaism's homeland (known as Zionism).  Mayor Jimmy Delshad calls the Obama administration to prioritize America's protection of the Israeli and Iranian peoples from Islamist imperialists, especially the government of Iran.

Beverly Hills Mayor Jimmy Delshad, the first Iranian-born elected official in America,  renamed the block of Clark Street adjacent to the Temple Emmanuel Jewish Day School as "Herzl Way" to be an inspiration to the public and students of this historic civil rights figure.

 

On what would be Theodore Herzl's 150th birthday, Beverly Hills (the sister-city of Herzl's namesake city in Israel - Herzliya)  on Sunday, May 2nd, the City held a dedication ceremony, addressed by Israel's Consul General to Los Angeles, Mr. Jacob Dayan.  Israel's former Minister for Public Security, Avi Dichter, also attended the ceremony. 

Temple Emmanuel's school choir entertained the audience, singing an inspirational, original composition about Israel's significance as a refuge from contemporary anti-Semitism. Mayor Delshad and Mr. Dayan joined the estimated 300 attendees for Israeli folk dancing and singing.  

 

In the 1890's, in response to perpetual Jew-hatred in Europe, Theodore Herzl catalyzed the concept of seeking refuge for persecuted Jews by re-establishing sovereignty over Judaism's homeland - where Jews have been residing for 3,000 years - Israel.  Israel is the only country Judaism considers holy, and Jerusalem (the capitol of Judaism) was re-established as Israel's civic capital in Mr. Herzl's movement - called Zionism.

Libyan Pres. Moammar Khadafi has persuaded the U.K. to release the Libyan Pan Am Flight #103 bombing convict on the testimony of non-specialist physicians (to the dismay of the families of 270 victims, 189 of them American). U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama is reported to be announcing an Arab-instigated initiative at the September convening of the United Nations which will compel the Jewish state of Israel to sacrifice strategically vulnerable territory to form a hostile, Islamist state of Palestine. Libyan Pres. Khadafi intends to attend - setting-up his Beduin tent in the midst of a partly Jewish, New Jersey community (against the cautioning of U.S. authorities) to send a statement to the world.

Students of history will recognize that the Jihad which confronts the West is a religio-cultural imperative. It is a continuation of the centuries-old Crusades by Muslims against Christians and Jews. Muslim pirates from the four Barbary States - Tripoli, Morocco, Tunis, and Algiers - plundered ships carrying Crusaders and pilgrims to Jerusalem before 1295 (and sold many Christians into slavery in North Africa).

In May, 1801, the United States refused to succumb to the increasing demands of the Pacha of Tripoli; in return, the Pacha declared war against the States. While Tripoli was not a strong power and little effort was necessary to watch and blockade it, the fear was that the other Barbary powers would join against the United States. The United States sent naval squadrons into the Mediterranean under the slogan of "Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute!"

In 1805 Marines stormed the Barbary pirates' harbor fortress stronghold of Derna (Tripoli), commemorated in the Marine Corp Hymn invocation "To the Shores of Tripoli."

American Tea Party-er, Miss Olga celebrated Independence Day by recognizing that the same, religiously motivated Jihadism which sold American Pilgrims into slavery off the Barbary Coast motivating the U.S. to form its Navy, still aims to weaken the infidel world and conquer it under Muslim domination.



The original lyrics to Francis Scott Key's 1805 national anthem were a tribute to the Navy and Marines victory over the Barbary pirates. The lyrics include the following:

And pale beamed the Crescent, its splendor obscured
By the light of the Star Spangled flag of our nation.
Where each radiant star gleamed a meteor of war,
And the turbaned heads bowed to its terrible glare.

Francis Scott Key depicts the conflict as between the Muslim flag of Tripoli (with its crescent, now obscured) and the 'star-spangled' American flag -- standing for a new, rising power, and an altogether different system overcoming and surpassing the old. And of course, this is the source of the imagery and language for the Star-Spangled Banner. Prof. Michael Oren, author of "America in the Middle East, 1776 to the Present" (later appointed to serve as Israel's Ambassador to the US) addressed this in his speech (exclusive video on DemoCast).



According to Islamic culture, any peace treaty between Muslims and infidels is only temporary - a respite to be used until the Muslims can gain enough strength to defeat and conquer the infidels.
