"Red-Green Axis" – How Communists and Islamists Are Undermining America from Within

The American Freedom Alliance (AFA) convened a high-stakes panel discussion exploring the mounting convergence between global communism and radical Islam — what was called the “Red-Green Axis: Communism and Islam United to Conquer the West." Held in Los Angeles, the forum was moderated by AFA's President Karen Siegemund and featured national security stalwart Frank Gaffney, Islamic extremism expert Robert Spencer, and anti-communist author Trevor Loudon.

The panel’s purpose was to diagnose how Islamist and Marxist-totalitarian movements are exploiting open societies—especially in the West—to advance authoritarian goals from within. While the event was red meat for conservatives, it aimed to illuminate for liberals and centrists the ideological absolutism threatening American values of freedom and pluralism. Moderator, Karen Siegemund: America at War with Itself

Dr. Siegemund framed the evening by emphasizing that the culture war is more than a metaphor—“our way of life is under siege,” she said. Referencing a prior AFA event on Israel’s role in American national security, Siegemund made clear that the current domestic destabilization parallels foreign conflicts. She warned of rising political actors like Zohran Mamdani in New York, representing the Red-Green synthesis of “anti-Semitic, pro-Palestinian, and socialist agendas.” Her goal: mobilize attendees to understand the depth of the threat and become “miracle-worthy” defenders of Western civilization.

Frank Gaffney: The Totalitarian Trifecta

Gaffney extended the Red-Green metaphor into a “totalitarian trifecta”—Red (communists), Green (Sharia supremacists), and Blue (globalists). He warned that these factions, while divergent in end goals, are united in their immediate mission: undermining the United States. “Each envisions running everything,” Gaffney noted. He accused American leadership of aiding this subversion, especially by denying Israel support to neutralize Iranian aggression, and failing to recognize the infiltration of U.S. borders by Chinese soldiers and jihadists.

Gaffney: “We know that 70,000 to 100,000 Afghans brought in after Biden’s withdrawal were not the allies who fought with us. They were selected by the Taliban—and we let them in!”

Trevor Loudon: Communism in Religious Clothing

Mr. Loudon offered the ideological framework: “Communism is a religion pretending to be a political ideology. Islam is a political ideology pretending to be a religion.” He sharply criticized Donald Trump’s diplomatic instincts, arguing that no deals can be made with ideologues—only strength will deter them. Loudon traced how communist strategists in Moscow and Beijing have for a century used mass Muslim immigration to undermine the West, especially by allying with left-wing parties to dilute national identity and sow chaos.

Loudon: “Minnesota didn’t become a Muslim hub by accident. It was built by communists who knew Muslims would be a reliable wrecking ball against Western traditions.”

Robert Spencer: Sharks That Must Devour or Die

Spencer invoked a stark metaphor: both communism and Islam are “sharks” that must keep conquering or collapse. Drawing on Islamic doctrine, he described how Sharia is inherently expansionist and intolerant of equality with non-Muslims. He explained why Islamists and progressives find common cause: both seek authoritarian control enforced by terror. Spencer further warned that Muslim immigration to America—backed by political leftists—will result in the same ethnic-religious conflict now destroying European cities like Paris and Stockholm.

Spencer: “There has never been a society where large numbers of Muslims immigrated and didn’t attack the host culture. We will not be the first exception.”

What They Want You to See—And What’s Coming

The panelists cited current developments in Texas—like the proposed "Epic City" Islamic development in Plano—as examples of an emboldened Sharia movement inside America. They warned that Islamic centers are being deliberately placed in patriotic strongholds like Texas and Tennessee to shift electoral outcomes and cultural norms. When questioned why communists would align with religious hardliners, Spencer answered succinctly: “Communists think they can ride the tiger. But Islam has had 1,400 years of playing this game. They’ll eat the left when they’re done with us.”

Addressing Misguided Leftists and Moderates

For left-leaning audiences, the panelists posed this challenge: will the left continue defending ideologies that, once in power, outlaw LGBTQ rights, religious diversity, and women’s freedom? Will they remain oblivious to the fact that Islamists and communists hate liberalism at its core?

Siegemund: “It’s not Islamophobic to point out that Sharia law opposes the Constitution. Freedom of religion does not mean freedom to impose authoritarianism.”

Gaffney: “The quiet ones among Muslims are often just trying to stay alive. Apostasy is punishable by death. That’s why you don’t hear from them.”

Conclusion

The panel concluded not in despair but in resolve: America can only survive this ideological siege if it reclaims faith in its own traditions—Judeo-Christian ethics, constitutional government, and national sovereignty. Each speaker emphasized the need for political courage, civic education, and a rejection of false multiculturalism that excuses ideological subversion.

On 9/11, the world was shown, in one horrific, indelible image, precisely what Islam is all about. Today, to write the previous sentence is to be guilty of Islamophobia. How did that come to be?

It began in the days after 9/11 itself, when George W. Bush - by repeatedly insisting that the cause of the jihadists had nothing to do with Islam - effectively ruled out of bounds any criticism of that religion, or any honest education and open discussion about it. Instead, Bush - who had gotten it into his head that all religions are basically good, and who was manipulated by advisors who wanted to project American power in a part of the world about which they knew very little - used 9/11 as an excuse to rein in Americans’ civil liberties and go nation-building abroad. It was a massive folly, doomed to failure. Why doomed? Because Islam is utterly irreconcilable with American-style freedom and incapable of reform, at least not without a far more aggressive effort than America was willing to commit to. Unlike America, moreover, Islam has a long memory. Muslims recall their forebears’ foiled attempts to conquer the Christian West at Tours in 732 and Vienna in 1683; the attacks of 9/11 were part of a history of such actions that goes back to Islam’s earliest days. Yet few Westerners know about this history or are aware that 9/11 was part of it.

Two of the flagged Afghans are being sent to Kosovo for further review amid security concerns

An estimated 100 Afghan refugees from Afghanistan to the United States have been flagged for potential ties to terrorist organizations, including the Taliban, according to a new report.

Of more than 30,000 evacuees from Afghanistan to the U.S., about 10,000 needed additional screening as of Friday," NBC News reported, citing two sources familiar with evacuation efforts. "And of those about 100 were flagged for possible ties to the Taliban or terror groups."

The report stated that two of the flagged Afghans "raised enough concern for additional review" and are being sent to Kosovo for further review amid security concerns.

Many of the fighting-trained Afghani that Pres. Biden couldn't (or won't) properly vette for terror-ties in Afghanistan-vicinity are still ripe for Islamist activism and even jihadism inside of America.

On Independence Day, the survivors of Vicky Hen held the 12th Independence Day Memorial for victims of the 1st jihadist attack in California- upon the El Al ticket counter of Los Angeles Airport's international terminal - on the 4th of July 2002- 9-months after Sept. 11, 2001. 

The ceremony by Vicky's survivors, father Avi, mother Rachel, and brother Udi, were comforted by around 3-dozen attendees and speakers.  For the first time, a Consul General of the Israeli Consulate to the Southwestern U.S. attended.

Video: Israeli Consul General David Siegel connected the jihad of Egyptian Hesham Hadayet seeking paradise by killing Vicky Hen and passenger's friend Jacob Aminov of North Hollywood - with the jihad warfare being conducted by Palestinians through rocketing, kidnapping, and killing Israeli civilians.  He acknowledged the supportive presence of Leehy Sha'er, whos nephew, Gil-Ad Sha'er was among the trio of yeshiva students abducted, shot, and burned by Palestinian followers of Hamas.

Elan Carr, an L.A. Deputy City Attorney prosecutor and candidate for US Congress, calls to recognize global Islamism as democracy's enemy.  Hebrew and Arabic-speaking Elan Carr served in the US Army as a military lawyer in Iraq and serves on reserve duty annually. Pastor Ramin Parsa, of the Good Shepherd Church in Encino, Calif. was born and raised a Shi'ite Muslim in Iran. He quoted for the audience Quranic passages used to command Muslims to enmity and violence against Jews and Christians- which have motivated Islamic anti-Semitism for 1,400 years - centuries before the re-establishment of Jewish sovereignty in Israel.


In May, 2008 - KNBC-TV News' Paul Moyer recounted the events of the shooting and the confession of a whistleblower policeman, Bob Lopez, that despite the FBI recommending special protection for the El Al counter (and his reporting having spotted "suspicious people" casing the El Al counter, not only were no provisions made, there was no police protection in the area that  morning- enabling the jihadist easy accesa to shoot. Vicky and Aminov died waiting 7 minutes for airport police to arrive, and over 20 minutes for an ambulance.

The Muslim mob threw bottles, cans, rocks and crates at the Christians. The Wayne County Sheriff's deputy chiefs acted against the Christians, refusing to protect them from the mob, yet stopping their van from departing.

White, American Muslim pleads guilty to advocating terrorism via online forum

A 22-year-old American Muslim from New Bethlehem, Pa., pleaded guilty on Tuesday to using an Internet website to urge Muslim radicals within the US to engage in a wide range of terror attacks.

Emerson Winfield Begolly pleaded guilty in federal court in Pittsburgh to a single charge of solicitation to commit a crime of violence.

According to the indictment, he used the forum to express his approval of the 9/11 attacks, the 2004 killing of 334 hostages – including 186 children – in Beslan, Russia by Chechen fighters, the kidnapping and beheading of American businessman Nick Berg in Iraq in 2004, and the kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan in 2002.

Begolly suggested militant Muslims in the US should attack civilian aircraft, banks, military installations, Jewish schools, and Jewish and daycare centers, according to the indictment.

“Peaceful protests do not work,” he posted in July 2010. “The [non-Muslim unbelievers] see war as [the] solution to their problems, so we must see war as the solution to our[s]. No peace. But bullets, bombs, and martyrdom operations.”

Arkansas recruitment shooter confesses motivation Pentagon report omits: killing U.S. servicemembers domestically is a 'Muslim obligation for Jihad'

The Pentagon's report about the motivations of Ft. Hood shooter, Palestinian-American Army Major Dr. Nidal Hasan, omit reference to  Islamic religious dogma for Muslims killing of American service-members. 

But Carlos Bledsoe, (pictured right) who attacked an Arkansas, Army-recruitment store, answered for the public what the Pentagon report refused to acknowledge.  His motivation for shooting to kill white 23-year old Army Private William Long and wounding an 18-year old African-American Army recruiter private wasn't racial. It wasn't political opposition to the war, it was his Islamic religious beliefs.  He confessed to the judge in his case that he is commanded, as an American Muslim, to fight those who wage war on Muslims.

(CNN - Jan 22)  A Tennessee man -- accused in a fatal attack at a military recruiting center in Arkansas in June -- wants to plead guilty and claims to have ties to al Qaeda in Yemen in a letter he wrote to the judge presiding over his case.


In the handwritten letter dated January 12, Abdul Hakim Muhammad said he did not want a trial and insisted the shooting was "justified" under jihad.

"This was a jihadi attack on infidel forces that didn't go as plan," he wrote. "Flat out truth."

Mr. Muhammad, formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe,(pictured left) is charged with killing Pvt. William Long, 23 (photos left, and wounding Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18 (photo right). The attack happened on June 1 at a recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas.  In his letter to the judge, Muhammad claimed he had links to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen, a group that has claimed responsibility for the attempting bombing of a U.S.-bound airliner on Christmas Day.

"My lawyer has no defense," he wrote. "I wasn't insane or post traumatic nor was I forced to do this act. Which I believe and it is justified according to Islamic laws and the Islamic religion jihad -- to fight those who wage war on Islam and Muslims."

To what degree do Muslims living in the West (especially as citizens) have dual-allegiance?  Where Islamic law contradicts Western law, how often will Muslims prioritize Islamic law (shariah)? And to what extent should Western society involve itself to insure allegiance to its laws among those with a propensity to subvert its laws, or with an allegiance to promoting a conflicting political system?

A report delivered to the French parliament recommends restrictions on the use of the full face veil for Muslim women in public. It suggests banning the veil in public facilities including hospitals, universities and mass transit. (AP, Jan 26)

The Fort Hood Report "Why No Mention of Islam?" Time Magazine cover-story challenges aversion to acknowledge Islamism

U.S. military's just-released report into the Fort Hood shootings spends 86 pages detailing various slipups by Army officers but not once mentions Major Nidal Hasan by name or even discusses whether the killings may have had anything to do with the suspect's view of his Muslim faith. And as Congress opens two days of hearings on Wednesday into the Pentagon probe of the Nov. 5 attack that left 13 dead, lawmakers want explanations for that omission.

John Lehman, a member of the 9/11 commission and Navy Secretary during the Reagan Administration, says a reluctance to cause offense by citing Hasan's view of his Muslim faith and the U.S. military's activities in Muslim countries as a possible trigger for his alleged rampage reflects a problem that has gotten worse in the 40 years that Lehman has spent in and around the U.S. military. The Pentagon report's silence on Islamic extremism "shows you how deeply entrenched the values of political correctness have become," he told TIME on Tuesday. "It's definitely getting worse, and is now so ingrained that people no longer smirk when it happens."

The apparent lack of curiosity into what allegedly drove Hasan to kill isn't in keeping with the military's ethos; it's a remarkable omission for the U.S. armed forces, whose young officers are often ordered to read Sun Tzu's The Art of War with its command to know your enemy. In midcareer, they study the contrast between capabilities and intentions, which is why they aren't afraid of a British nuclear weapon but do fear the prospect of Iran getting one.

The Congressman whose district includes Fort Hood agrees. "The report ignores the elephant in the room — radical Islamic terrorism is the enemy," says Republican Representative John Carter. "We should be able to speak honestly about good and bad without feeling like you've done something offensive to society."

The report lumps in radical Islam with other fundamentalist religious beliefs, saying that "religious fundamentalism alone is not a risk factor" and that "religious-based violence is not confined to members of fundamentalist groups." But to some, that sounds as if the lessons of 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq, where jihadist extremism has driven deadly violence against Americans, are being not merely overlooked- but studiously ignored.
