Downtown San Pedro Business Development District hosted a Welcome Party Wednesday for the kickoff of 2nd Annual Fleet Week at the Port of L.A. City official, Ms. Lorena Parker, describes their initiative in this video news report. The San Pedro Property Owners' Alliance welcomed the sailors and Marines, with nostalgic and patriotic musical theater entertainment from The Satin Dollz.

The ships participating in Fleet Week, which runs through Labor Day Monday, are the US Navy minesweeper USS Scout; the amphibious vessel USS Anchorage; the destroyer USS Dewey; Royal Canadian Navy Frigate HMCS Ottawa; and the US Coast Guard Cutter CGC Active. See http://LAFleetWeek.org for more info.

Socialist-activists associated with Code:Pink solicited for the promenading crew-members to attend the week-long, anti-military protest running alongside the event, which they call L.A. Harbor Peace Week.

Ms. Rachel Bruhnke, was soliciting US Marines and Navy crew-members (female and male) at the San Pedro Naval Fleet-Week Welcome Night to attend a series of pacifist social events she is involved in hosting to subvert the crew-members' commitment to their job, team, mission, and purpose. Might they turn one or more crewmembers to sabotage their technology or their crew-members or superiors' orders? Ms. Bruhnke claims to be anti-imperialist, but undermines America's defense against Communist and Islamist imperialism. How much does she support such imperialism and the totalitarianism which accompanies Islamo-Marxism?  Code:Pink's LA Harbor Peace Week- peace through surrender? Ms. Bruhnke is a member of Witness for Peace Southwest, a co-sponsor of the LA Harbor Peace Week over the Labor Day weekend which events are co-sponsored by Occupy Torrance/SouthBay and the MLK Coalition.

Islamic imperialism has targeted America and Europe since the late 1700's. President Thomas Jefferson's steps to thwart Muslim Barbary Pirates ransoming their captured, "infidel" US sailors from slavery was dramatized in the 1950 movie, "Tripoli," from which the "Marine Hymn" gets it's lyrics "to the shores of Tripoli." The original "leathernecks" uniform was instituted to resist Muslim beheading of American seamen in defensive battle even then.

Post-9/11 check-up: "How well-informed is our society to defend America (and freedom) against Islamist revolution?

A DemoCast original production. America's 13-year check-up. Taking stock of Americans' understanding of the jihadist attacks of September 11, 2001 and their relevance in understanding the goals of Islamism and how to defend freedom against Islamism's global revolution.
9/11 Ceremony in L.A. omits reference to who is at war with America & why

Using the annual Los Angeles, Sept. 11th civic ceremony as an example, what are the lessons which 9/11-like terror anniversary events ought be teaching the public about the Islamist revolution fighting to control and dominate the life on non-Muslims? After a dozen years since the Islamist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, ought civic commemorations be merely mourning our losses, or steeling free-people's understanding and resolve to overcome the revolutionary movement working to control free-societies?

Beyond 9/11: Islamophobia taboo imperils next-gen America to Islamist takeover

A dozen years after 2001, the 8th grader who sings the national anthem at the September 11th Attack commemoration ceremony in Beverly Hills is asked some basic questions about the 9/11 attacks and consequent war- with surprising answers.

9/11: Miss Teen USA models schools' failure to prepare youth to protect freedom

Miss Teen USA contestant from Beverly Hills in 2013, Savanah Palacio, an articulate, Pasadena, California high-school senior, explains what high-school has taught her about the identity and intentions of the 9//11 jihad attackers, and America's defense against jihadism, and how to protect freedom from totalitarian Islamism.

'Educating about global jihadism is our central obligation in the war on terror' - "Future Jihad" author, Walid Phares

Author Walid Phares explains, in an excerpt adapted from Future Jihad: Terrorist Strategies against America, the events of 9/11 in the context of the Jihadists' war to restore the Caliphate that ruled the Islamic world (and significantly, parts of what we now call the West) for over a thousand years.
Beheadings, mass graves, and the statements made by the vast networks of jihadists and other radicals have brought home the weighty question of future holy wars against the United States and the West. Americans are now preoccupied by two wars: the jihad that has been launched against them and the war on terrorism that has been directed at the jihadists.

I show that the jihadist strategies include a deep infiltration of America's government, defenses, and its youth. Jihadi doctrines do not rule out the acquisition and the possible use of weapons of mass destruction.

The war is expected to last more than a decade. I argue that the United States is mobilized domestically for this war but is not yet fully secured. It will take mass cultural adaptation to fight jihad. America must win the war of ideas - it must capture the minds of the women, youth, and elite that form the foundation of the future. Americans must learn a higher, more difficult truth about the terrorists - and also about what and who allowed the jihadists to be successful until September 11 and beyond - so that they can begin the actual resistance. Washington's perception and planning for the global war on terrorism is only beginning. Many aspects of our response to and understanding of the jihadists need to be changed or developed: our national education, our justice system, our intelligence agencies, our political alliances around the world, and our spending policies. Some myths will have to be broken, and many realities must be unearthed.
Six extraordinary films each offering unique perspectives on the tragic events of September 11, 2001 and their aftermath, are presented without commercial interruption during this week of remembrance (courtesy SnagFilms). These documentaries remind us how powerfully the medium of film can capture our darkest days, while also exalting the perseverance of the human spirit and our collective ability to endure and to heal.

The critically acclaimed 7 Days in September is presented to an online audience for the first time. With material from almost 30 filmmakers, director Steven Rosenbaum turns the tragic events of September 11, 2001—the memories of which are forever jarred in our psyches—into a moving portrait of emotion, loss and even kindness. Although the film uses footage of the horrific attacks on the World Trade Center and the resulting catastrophic loss, it also hones in on New York City’s tremendous ability to rebuild, through will and compassion.

Defense Secy Gates leaks details of Israel Air Force tactics against Iran's nuclear weapons

Israel-based analyst, DebkaFile reports on an alleged Pentagon role in leaking details of the Israel Defense Force's (IDF's) tactical preparations for destroying Iran's nuclear weapons capabilities.

US Pentagon sources report that more than 100 Air Force F-16 and F-15 fighters participated in the maneuver over the eastern Mediterranean and Greece in the first week of June. The maneuver included helicopters used for rescuing downed pilots and refueling tankers. They flew 1,440 km, roughly the distance between Israel and the Iranian uranium enrichment plant at Natanz.

Israel officials declined to comment on the exercise, the IDF saying only that the air force trains regularly for various missions in order to meet the challenges posed by the threats facing Israel. Israel must be ready for a possible war with Iran in the near future. This conflict could erupt on three additional fronts, Syria, Hezballah and Hamas.

Of interest, too, is the probable motive behind the US Defense Department’s leak to the world media of the Israel Air Force maneuver and its presentation as an exercise to simulate an attack on Iran.

According to DEBKAfile’s informants, US defense secretary Robert Gates is adamantly opposed to American military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities and even more so to Israel going it alone, which this publicity was intended to pre-empt.

Why? Is the Bush administration, fresh from promising their defense support at the Knesset just weeks ago, concerned about perceived Republican political liability for providing Iraqi airspace to Israeli jets prior to Election Day? Or are they hoping to leave a clean record until the Bush regime has departed the White House, thwarting the Israelis until the next administration in late January? Any other ideas?

Update: Uproar, military alerts, oil price surge over apparent Israeli air drill for Iran attack June 21, 2008, 1:12 AM (GMT+02:00)

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that an oil price surge of 5 percent to $135.92 was triggered by the report leaked by US government officials of an Israeli air force drill over Greece for an apparent strike against Iran, Friday, June 20. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered a war alert in the Revolutionary Guards and armed forces, with the Israeli and US Gulf forces following suit.
Tehran made no immediate comment, while Iranian leaders were reported puzzled by the Bush administration’s motives in leaking the report to the New York Times.

The most extreme reaction came from the UN nuclear watchdog’s director Mohamad ElBaradei, who threatened to resign if there was a military strike on Iran, warning such an attack would turn the region into a “fireball.”

“A military strike would be worse than anything possible,” he warned. “..it will mean that Iran, if it is not already making nuclear weapons, will launch a crash course to build them…”

Russian foreign minister Sergei Ivanov maintained that neither Israel nor the United States had produced proof that Iran was developing nuclear weapons and said the issue must be dealt with by diplomacy and talks with Tehran.

The American UN ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad agreed. While stating the view that Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons would be “unacceptable,” he stressed:
"We're in the phase of diplomacy; we want a diplomatic settlement of this issue. The ball is frankly in Iran's court."

DEBKAfile’s political sources comment that if a reported air maneuver simulating an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities raised so much international, financial and military dust, how much more extreme would the world response be to a real attack.

The Greek Air force confirmed its participation in the Israeli military exercise held three weeks ago, but did not confirm the claim by Washington officials that it was a rehearsal for a potential attack on Iran. The Greek source stated no ground targets were involved as the drill was mainly aimed at personnel training. It was the first large-scale exercise between Israel and the air force of Greece, a member of NATO.

UP to 40 Israeli Air force F-15 and F-16 warplanes were based at the Greek Air Force Station at Souda on the southern Mediterranean island of Crete for the duration of the exercise, said the source.
