Pick Poizner: He's the worthiest of the candidates in Calif GOP gubernatorial primary

L.A. Daily News' editorial choice: "In choosing the nominee for the gubernatorial primary, we urge GOP voters to ignore the ubiquitous and nasty ads and ask themselves which of the two candidates – Steve Poizner or Meg Whitman – is best prepared to be governor of a state in dire financial trouble.

They should consider which candidate has the experience in both government as well as private industry, which has been willing to meet with the press and public, and which one has a record of public service and an interest in public policy long before this election.

If Republican voters do that they will find that Poizner, the current insurance commissioner, is the worthier candidate.

Whitman, the former CEO of eBay, may have solid business background, but she lacks the political and public service background essential for the state’s top executive. She didn’t even bother to vote in many California elections.

Poizner, by contrast, was co-founder of two education groups, EdVoice and the California Charter Schools Association. He also was a White House fellow, focusing on cybersecurity and emergency communications and taught a semester of 12th-grade American government at a San Jose high school. In 2006, Poizner won a statewide election to become California’s insurance commissioner. …

Both would attack the state’s chronic fiscal problems, illegal immigration and pension problems, but only Poizner truly grasps what it takes to solve problems in government.

More importantly, of the two, only Poizner stands a chance in the election against Jerry Brown, the master politician who will have the might of the Democratic Party political machine on his side. That alone makes him the best choice in this primary."

Courageous approach to overcome "racism" which polarizes and stifles society

Veteran, Black community activist, Ted Hayes, challenges slavery shibboleths utilized to manipulate both black-ambition and white-guilt into a polarized America.

Europeans, not white Americans, were responsible for capturing and bringing Black Africans into slavery in America, Mr. Hayes asserts. While it is true that 1.4% of white Americans actually employed slaves, a full 50% of white America did fight and die in battle against their cousins in the South to free black slaves and grant them citizenship under the U.S. Constitution.

It is time for today's blacks, Mr. Hayes feels, to reconcile with whites and overcome a taught racial schism which he feels is impeding social progress in this country. Hayes believes that this is the crucial step towards overcoming the inhibiting of honest debate of Pres. Barack Obama by threats of labeling critics "racist."

Hayes intends for his movement, America's Black Shield, to serve as the catalyst for healing - to overcome the stigmatizing of civil debate over Administration policies. He plans a rally in Appalachia to release the stigma of racist guilt of debating Obama policies openly.  Hayes made these remarks on Sunday 13 September at the Tea Party Rally in West Los Angeles.

Actor, John Ratzenberger, immortalized through his portrayal of "Cliff" on TV's classic sitcom, "Cheers," discusses blue-collar America's disillusionment with the Obama-led, Democrat Party.

Mr. Ratzenberger believes that despite the Democrat Party's health care initiative, this current Administration is governing too far left from traditional, blue-collar America's economic values. Ratzenberger, introduced by Dr. Joel Strom, presented these remarks at the Republican Jewish Coalition's Los Angeles meeting this summer.

At the Republican National Convention, Mayor Rudy Giulliani's introduction of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin ran over-time. The RNC prepared a biography video, which to keep ahead of TV schedule, they pre-empted showing. This enabled her to complete her speech- which was viewed by 37.2 million American households. How viewers watched Gov. Palin's subsequent speech: MSNBC.com reports: "Fox News Channel led the way Wednesday, with 9.2 million people watching Palin’s speech on the cable channel. It was the third-largest audience in its history, behind only President Bush’s speech on Iraq in March 2003 and a Bush-Kerry presidential debate in 2004.

For each night of the GOP convention so far, Fox’s audience has been bigger than any of the other cable or broadcast networks. That duplicates a feat accomplished at the 2004 Republican convention for Fox, the first time a cable network had outdrawn broadcasters for a major news event.

NBC had 7.7 million viewers for Palin’s speech, followed in order by CNN, ABC, CBS and MSNBC, Nielsen said.
