Hidden just off Little Santa Monica Boulevard, at the corner of Rexford Drive beside the Beverly Hills Fire and Police Departments, stands a solemn yet beautiful space: the Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden. Two key figures behind its creation—architect Gidas Peteris and project manager Reggie Sully—shared how this landmark came to be and what it means.

A Vision Anchored by History

Peteris designed the garden around a striking centerpiece: a steel beam salvaged from the World Trade Center. “It gives us a little height and more to show—otherwise nobody would know what it was,” he explained. Around it are engraved plaques bearing more than 2,900 names of everyone who perished in the 9/11 attacks, not just first responders. The goal, Peteris said, was to create a focal point that made the loss tangible and unforgettable.

A Hidden Time Capsule

Beneath the foundation lies a sealed time capsule containing deeply personal artifacts: a piece of one of the hijacked airplanes and the ID badge of a pilot, donated through his brother during the memorial’s planning. There’s no set plan to open it; instead, it “memorializes those particular elements” and gives the site a deeper layer of meaning.

Building With Heart and Precision

For Reggie Sully, a veteran expediter with McCoy Construction, this was his first and only memorial project. Normally he manages high-end custom homes, but this garden called for extraordinary coordination: granite imported from China, engravers handling a four-step name etching process, concrete pours, stone masons, and weld inspections. “Timing was everything,” Sully said. Yet he felt as though “angels were looking down” as deadlines were met and materials arrived against the odds.

Community Spirit on Display

Both men highlighted the flood of volunteerism and generosity. Subcontractors and suppliers routinely waived fees. “It was a living tribute to everybody who wanted to participate,” Sully reflected. Peteris added that the board of directors, landscape designer Jim Ply, and local leader Reggie all donated time and services. Together, they turned a vision into reality without a traditional commercial budget.

More Than a Monument

Quotes, inscriptions, and interpretive panels guide visitors through the story of 9/11 and the memorial’s creation. For Peteris, the garden is for “kids, for people that lost somebody, for residents who shouldn’t forget.” Sully hopes visitors take away one message above all: never forget.

First Responders and Personal Meaning

First responders pass the memorial daily, and Sully believes they take special pride in it, much as the builders did. On September 11 ceremonies, he’s focused on making sure the steel is coated and the grounds immaculate. “I’m in work mode,” he said, “but I have my private moments with it.”

A Moment That Defined the Project

Sully recounted a moving committee meeting with Brad Berlingame, brother of pilot Chuck Berlingame, whose plane was hijacked on 9/11. Brad told how the FBI returned a singed prayer card from his brother’s wallet—one of the few personal effects recovered. That story, Sully said, deeply moved the entire team and underscored the memorial’s purpose.

Ken Abramowitz, executive director of Save the West, outlines the main threats to freedom and the means to counter them. He contends that Americans often overlook the global interconnectedness of issues and views the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts as part of a broader scheme. He attributes these and other conflicts to three malevolent forces: the Reds (Communists), the Greens (Islamists), and the Blues (globalists), who aim to undermine Israel and Western Civilization, seen as the bastion of democracy and law. He criticizes the insufficient support from the US and European countries to Israel's defense of civilization and accuses the UK and the Democratic Administration of being compromised by these groups.

Five minutes into the video, Mr. Abramowitz voices his concerns about the state of democracies in America and England, which he perceives as being compromised by malevolent forces. He points out "voting and tabulation irregularities" in past elections, particularly the 2020 election, which he believes have gone unaddressed. Doubting the integrity of vote counting, he echoes Trump's assertion that a 60% vote is necessary to avert election fraud. He implies that open borders are a tactic to enable illegal immigrant voting and warns that the upcoming election could be jeopardized if the Democrats, whom he labels as "Reds, Greens, and Blues," stay in power.

On 9/11, the world was shown, in one horrific, indelible image, precisely what Islam is all about. Today, to write the previous sentence is to be guilty of Islamophobia. How did that come to be?

It began in the days after 9/11 itself, when George W. Bush - by repeatedly insisting that the cause of the jihadists had nothing to do with Islam - effectively ruled out of bounds any criticism of that religion, or any honest education and open discussion about it. Instead, Bush - who had gotten it into his head that all religions are basically good, and who was manipulated by advisors who wanted to project American power in a part of the world about which they knew very little - used 9/11 as an excuse to rein in Americans’ civil liberties and go nation-building abroad. It was a massive folly, doomed to failure. Why doomed? Because Islam is utterly irreconcilable with American-style freedom and incapable of reform, at least not without a far more aggressive effort than America was willing to commit to. Unlike America, moreover, Islam has a long memory. Muslims recall their forebears’ foiled attempts to conquer the Christian West at Tours in 732 and Vienna in 1683; the attacks of 9/11 were part of a history of such actions that goes back to Islam’s earliest days. Yet few Westerners know about this history or are aware that 9/11 was part of it.

Two of the flagged Afghans are being sent to Kosovo for further review amid security concerns

An estimated 100 Afghan refugees from Afghanistan to the United States have been flagged for potential ties to terrorist organizations, including the Taliban, according to a new report.

Of more than 30,000 evacuees from Afghanistan to the U.S., about 10,000 needed additional screening as of Friday," NBC News reported, citing two sources familiar with evacuation efforts. "And of those about 100 were flagged for possible ties to the Taliban or terror groups."

The report stated that two of the flagged Afghans "raised enough concern for additional review" and are being sent to Kosovo for further review amid security concerns.

Many of the fighting-trained Afghani that Pres. Biden couldn't (or won't) properly vette for terror-ties in Afghanistan-vicinity are still ripe for Islamist activism and even jihadism inside of America.

So this is why we commemorate this event every year, and the city supports this event, and we will be commemorating this event for years to come. "

The Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden is open to the public on a daily basis and provides a sanctuary for those who wish to sit, contemplate and remember the events of that day," the City of Beverly Hills said. "In addition to the imposing Twin Towers floor beam erected at the center of the site, various vignettes have been incorporated to represent the locations of the three plane crash sites: the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The Garden contains an historic steel artifact that once served as a structural member at the World Trade Center site. It is supported by a Pentagon shaped base and prominently looks out, ever vigilant, towards the symbolic Twin Towers and the field of greenery representing Shanksville.

Encased in the foundation of this memorial are copies of the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, Gettysburg Address, and a piece of the aircraft from Flight 77 along with the Captain’s insignia wings.

Mayor John Mirisch and councilmembers, the City of Beverly Hills Fire and Police Chiefs, Color Guard and bagpipers were in attendance for the Wednesday ceremony which began at 5:30 p.m.

From 2009 to 2016, President Barack Obama proclaimed September 11 as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, in observance of Pub.L. 111–13, the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.   In 2017, 2018 and 2019, President Donald Trump proclaimed September 8–10 as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance, and proclaimed September 11 as Patriot Day

If a group of Muslims claims that freedom of religion permits their killing of gays, their subjugation of women, and their persecution of non-believers — all as Shariah Law dictates — should we allow their behavior, under our Constitution's First Amendment, or should we set limitations for the concept of religious freedom, thereby preventing them from practicing such "religious" principles?"

Swiss-born educator, Mrs. Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, lived and worked in Kuwait and Libya. She raised issues about Islam and Sharia law in lectures back in the West. In an article, "Attempting to Appease Islamists by Enforcing Blasphemy Laws Will Only Make Europe More Dangerous" in The Federalist 10/30, Helen Raleigh wrote about the case that Austrian officials brought against her:

... the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) upheld an Austrian woman’s conviction by an Austrian court for defaming Muhammad.

According to the court ruling, the woman in this case, Mrs. S., held several seminars, entitled “Basic Information on Islam” between 2008 to 2009. In these seminars, she made several statements regarding Muhammad’s marriage to Aisha (Islamic traditions hold that Aisha was six at the time of their marriage and nine at its consummation). An undercover journalist reported her comments to Austrian authorities.

 The Vienna Regional Criminal Court found her “guilty of publicly disparaging an object of veneration of a domestic church or religious society, namely Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, in a manner capable of arousing justified indignation.” Thus, she was convicted in 2011 of “disparaging religious doctrines pursuant to Article 188 of the Criminal Code concerning three statements.” She was ordered to “pay the costs of the proceedings and a day‑fine of 4 euros (EUR) for a period of 120 days (amounting to EUR 480 in total), which would result in sixty days’ imprisonment in the event of default.

Graeme Wood, a staff writer for The Atlantic wrote: If Europe believes enforcing blasphemy laws in order to suppress offensive speech is necessary for maintaining “religious peace,” it’s dead wrong. Blasphemy laws protect no one and certainly don’t maintain religious peace. They represent a disguised bigotry — the progressives in the EU don’t trust that Muslims are peace-loving and are capable of civil discourse without resorting to violence.”

Will de facto 'blasphemy laws' inhibit contesting Islamic imperialism's cultural hostilities in the West? Might they inhibit enforcing security precautions in public transportation and the workplace?

Q: What happened to you along your journey?

A:  Well, it's a journey that took ten years that began in in late 2009 it's like I said it's taken me a decade of my life fighting for free speech in Europe. I was convicted of denigration of religious teachings of a legally recognized religion in Austria which is effectively a blasphemy law for for asking a rhetorical question in a seminar that I gave back in 2008 asking what do you call the behavior of Muhammad the Prophet of Islam marrying a six-year-old and consummating the marriage when she was nine? The name girl's name was Aisha. What do you call it if not pedophilia? So it was a rhetorical question.

I was convicted of, like I said, denigration of religious teachings. I appealed and appealed and appealed all the way up to the Austrian Supreme Court. I lost all the way to the Supreme Court and after that I went to a supranational court called the European Court of Human Rights which is a sort of Supreme Court of Europe. And we lost again. I mean I lost again but when I lose everybody loses in Europe.

So now we have a ruling from the European Court of Human Rights which in effect says that the Muslims right not to be offended is greater than my right to free speech.

Q:  But what was it that was that you said wasn't false?

A:  Well, it wasn't wasn't slander well according to Islamic law it was slander of course so it was - it's a strange situation because the Austrian legal system sort of became the arbiter for Islamic law it was a Sharia ruling in effect because you have you had the entire Islamic world rejoicing after the verdict was passed down so that's that's actually proof that it's it's Sharia law and that Sharia slander laws were upheld by the European Court and it, you know, the irony is you didn't even need any Muslim complaint about what I'd said back in 2008 and 9, but rather you had a secular government take over and do the job and they did it very well.

Q:  What does that signal to free people, free societies around the world?

A:  Do you remember what Mohammed Atta's said when he hijacked the plane that went into the World Trade Center? One of the planes he said "if you remain quiet everything will be okay?" That's exactly what it is my court case signals to non-Muslims. You need to remain quiet and not talk about
Islam in any slanderous way and then everything will be all right. So this is a terrible terrible sign and there are so many people already silenced because of that.

Q:  But you made a religious criticism what about criticisms of Islamism and and the actions that either Muslims or the politicians who facilitate Islamism in those kind of criticisms are those also now taboo?

A: Well, you know, I don't subscribe to the distinction between Islam and Islamism. I don't belong to this group that distinguishes it. Any criticism is taboo whether it's Islam or Islamism, you must not criticize the religion of Islam or anything associated with it. And that's the problem. If you can't you can't name the enemy and obviously the Red-Green Axis that we just heard about for most of the day,  the Red-Green axis between the Socialists and the- I would call it Muslims - I would say Quran-abiding Muslims - okay, that's a distinction I would make.

Q:  Who are trying to spread Islam as a political force?


A:  Well, I mean there's no difference in Islam between religion and politics. It's all the same. It's a distinction that we as non-Muslims make. But they have won. And that's that's a tragedy. They won that case. We lost we lost massively.  The first thing I said after I heard the verdict - I apologized to my daughter because I want her to grow up as a free person and she no longer is a free person. And the second thing, you know, I will no longer speak publicly in Europe - in all of Europe - in the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights. So I am now moving, I'm shifting my focus to the United States -  to help Americans realize that your protection is the First Amendment. You need to protect your Constitution and your First Amendment.  It's the bullwark of free speech. We (Europeans) don't have anything like that. There's nothing like it in the entire planet.

Lawyer, Judith Bergman, wrote in "Denmark: How to Deal with Integration" in Gatestone Institute, August 20, 2019

The Integration Barometer -- which measures the degree of assimilation in the municipality among young people with a non-Western background -- showed that almost one third of 18-29 year-olds (31%) believe that "religious and cultural laws must be adhered to, even though they may be contrary to [Danish] law."  The issue, then, is whether these young people believe that Islamic sharia law should take precedence over Danish law.... In addition, the number of youths who view democracy in a positive light has fallen from 86% in 2016 to 79% in 2018.

The Imam Ali Mosque's refusal to distance itself from the problematic imam, exemplifies the difficulties with which Western societies are struggling: How does a society deal with religious institutions that profess values, which are the very opposite of the value system of the Western society in which they live? How does one deal with the influence that they wield on the people who follow their recommendations? And how, in turn, does one deal with this influence on the West?

Muslim reformists denounce extremism; offer a path of contemporary values

During past September 11th's, we have expressed disappointment at officials' reticence for commemorations to address the west's need to actively resist the Islamist movement to conquer and convert the world under a Caliphate. Many of the mosques in North America are influenced by Wahabist ideology from Saudi Arabia. Dr. Zuhdi Jasser organized the Muslim Reform Movement a few years ago to challenge crypto-Islamist groups, such as when he debated Salam al-Marayati of the Muslim Public Afairs Council (covered by DemoCast video here).


Mrs. Raheel Raza, president of the Council for Muslims Facing Tomorrow, based in Canada, was honored by the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Spring 2018. The SWC, which operates Los Angeles' Museum of Tolerance, presented Mrs. Raza an Award for Valor for her work in promoting  harmonius coexistence among people of all faith traditions and advancing progressive issues among Muslims.

Mr. Sohail Raza is Raheel's partner in life as well as treasurer of the Muslims Facing Tomorrow organization. In this video interview, he addresses issues of Pakistani officials abetting Al-Qaeda - including the mastermind of the September 11th attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who also slaughtered Wall Street Journal investigative reporter, Daniel Pearl, son of Artificial Intelligence expert UCLA Professor Judea Pearl.

Transcript: Question: Mr Raza, which country do you come from originally?

Answer: I come from Pakistan. I lived my youth and studied there and in 1978, I left Pakistan fearing the rise of extremism which came about during the reign of General Zia-ul-Haq. He imported the extremist message from Saudi at that time into Pakistan and women started covering up, alcohol was banned and other forms of extreme Islamic ideology crept in.

Q: Most Americans are not aware that the son of UCLA Professor Judea Pearl, Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal journalist who went looking for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Pakistan. Were they helped, was al-Qaeda helped by the ISI?

A: Absolutely yes, and that is the sad part. The mullah, the clerics, the mullah and military alliance. The ISI is also disunited in a certain way that the official version means maybe something different, but there are splinter groups that definitely help terrorist organizations because they used them in Afghanistan and they used them in Kashmir. So it is to their advantage to keep them happy and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was one of them- and Danny Pearl did an excellent job in investigating. Actually he went with a friend of mine, Ms. Asra Nomani, also from The Wall Street Journal, a Pakistani (actually a Mumbai-born Muslim), and they did a terrific investigation into Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and eventually it ended up in not very pleasant circumstances.

Q: Why in your view did they behead Daniel Pearl?

A: The first reason is because he was a Jew - and the supposed animosity between Judaism and Islam which does not exist - even in the Quran it does not exist - and the sooner the two work together the better it is will be for the peace in the world - that is the one reason because he was Jewish because he was American and they wanted to make a statement - and they did.

Q: You started off claiming that they killed him because he was a Jew but the Quran preaches otherwise but what's the wider held belief towards Jews in the Muslim world?

A: The wider held belief is that of total ignorance. A person who's spouting hate against Jews in Israel- I can bet you anything he doesn't even know where in the map Israelis or what is the history of the Jews. It comes through total ignorance this animosity and it plays into the hands of Muslim politicians whether in the Arab world or in Pakistan or Malaysia or Indonesia. It plays into the hands because that is the supposed enemy - and it is very easy to build a hysteria and a mob against Israel or the Jews.

Q: So President Trump has declared that he's cutting support to Pakistan. Hasn’t Pakistan been one of the primary benefactors of American foreign aid over the past 20 years?

A: Yes, and one of the better words to describe Pakistan would be a “frenemy”- a friendly enemy. So Pakistan has always played a double game- it has taken aid from the United States of America to build its military. But on the other hand, it is also in the game of appeasing terrorists or terrorist organizations to play its own politics vis a vis India and Afghanistan and Iran to a certain extent.

Q: Who is Dr. A.Q. Khan?

Answer: A.Q Khan is the father of the nuclear program in Pakistan. He stole nuclear secrets from the Netherlands and went about to Pakistan to develop a nuclear bomb. And a lot of people don't know that when we talk about North Korea and we talk about the nuclear program in Iran, it is A.Q. Khan that has sold nuclear secrets to both North Korea and Iran.

Q: Hasn’t it been referred to as the “Islamic bomb” that originated in Pakistan - where did he spread it within the Muslim world?

A: Well he wanted to spread it more into Libya, into Saudi Arabia but he was stopped and brought in to check. Now he is considerably restrained but the damage has already been done.

 Q: Israel just revealed that they were responsible for destroying the Syrian nuclear reactor. If they hadn't and that reactor in Syria had fallen into ISIS' hands or nuclear materials, what would the prospects for nuclear terrorism have been?

A: Yes, when you talk about ISIS you are talking about a totally mad and evil existence of a group of people so your imagination, my imagination, or the viewers’ imagination can be as drastic as possible as to what would have happened if this scenario would have materialized. It would have been complete chaos because you must understand that organizations like Isis revere death. Whereas we the people who have some sanity, revere life and that's the difference. So they would have had no qualms into dropping an atomic device on civilian population on children women, etc., so it would have been a complete disaster - a doomsday scenario.

The Los Angeles Fire Department held its annual Patriot Day ceremony on September 11th, with a gathered audience of police, firefighters, the media, and Fire Cadets. LAFD Chief Ralph Terrazas, Police Chief Charlie Beck, and California Secretary of State Alex Padilla addressed the crowd.

Chief Terrazas paid tribute to the New York firefighters who rushed into the burning towers of the World Trade Center to successfully evacuate thousands of people in the immediate aftermath of the attack. Many did not make it out themselves: Of the nearly 3,000 Americans killed that day, more than 400 were first-responders, including 343 New York firefighters.

The total number of rescue and recovery workers to have died since Sept. 11, 2001 exceeded 1,000 as of last year, according to a Newsweek report.

This year, FDNY Capt. Orio Palmer was honored for his heroism on Sept. 11, 2001. After the second plane hit the South Tower of the WTC, Palmer took an elevator to the 41st floor, then ran up 37 more flights of stairs to reach the impact zone on the 78th floor.

Former L.A. City Councilman Tom LaBonge told DemoCast, all were here today to recognize those who lost their lives ... in the Twin Towers- and well over 300 firefighters, NY Police Department as well as the Port Authority (Police). ... After 16-years, look at the children of this firefighter (referring to Capt. Palmer) - now she's 25 and older and maybe having a family herself, but never to meet her father because that chief gave the ultimate sacrifice."

"Let's honor the fallen not just by remembering but by being active," said L.A. Police Chief Charlie Beck. "We remember, but we also come together to commit and to recognize."

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, like President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, avoided mentioning the Islamist-motivation of terrorists or their agenda- waging jihad to conquer non-Muslims (and their lands) for the Ummah (Muslim communities around the world). Mr. Padilla's attributed why they attacked us as: "...Their (the victims) lives that were cut far too short were lost because of our very way of life. Those freedoms I've talked about. That democracy that we pride ourselves in.  So let's continue to be proud of our values as a nation. We value diversity, we value equality, we value speech, we value freedom of religion, our ability to practice our own faith."

None of the other speakers of this day mentioned who attacked America 16-years ago that day, or who is still waging jihad to conquer non-Muslims (and their lands) for the Ummah. For the past 16-years, Western government officials have avoided educating the public about Islamic imperialist history of terror intimidation and conquering non-Muslim societies under Islam (as two, historic jihads have in the Middle East, north Africa, and Europe). Today, fundamentalists influence politics (and public opinion) through acts of aggression- not only from organizations, such as The Islamic State/ISIS or Al-Qaeda (who conducted the 9/11 attacks), but also by individual, radicalized Muslims.

September 11th is the one day on which people relax society's imposed Islamophobia-filter and are most receptive to being taught not just how we were attacked, but who, why, and what movement has been at war against non-Muslims since the attack on US Marines barracks in Beirut, October 23, 1983.  For the sake of the youthful cadets' as well as public safety, September 11 is a good time to address that jihadists attacked us then, and continue hostility to dominate, convert, and control non-Muslims all around the globe.

We spoke with Islamist political expert, Daniel Greenfield, editor of FrontPage Magazine's "The Point" and the Sultan Knish blog, at Beverly Hills' 9/11 Memorial Garden after the L.A.F.D.'s 9/11/17 Memorial Ceremony.



Mr. Greenfield asked when imperialist Japan and Nazi Germany fought us, what would have been the wisdom towards national security if our officials avoided mentioning their names or goals?

Today, we have a generation of young people too young to have learned the need for our defense against Islamism- political Islam. In his November 2002, letter to the American people, Osama bin-Laden wrote the intention of the Islamist movement, "What are we calling you to, and what do we want from you? The first thing that we are calling you to is Islam. . . . It is the religion of Jihad in the way of Allah so that Allah's Word and religion reign Supreme. And it is the religion of unity and agreement on the obedience to Allah..." 'September 11ths should assess and renew our defenses against Islamo-Fascism'- Daniel Greenfield

The dwindling number of ceremonies that commemorate the  jihadist attacks on NYC and Washington, September 11, 2001 typically focus as a memorial for victims: the first-responders among the nearly 3,000 Americans killed by the plane crashes. In the 16-years since the terror attacks, Islamist and leftist advocacy enterprises have shifted the focus away from the political Islam ("Islamism") motive of the al-Qaeda civilian attackers to terrorize Americans (and the on-looking world) to fear Islam and submit to it- religiously, culturally, and politically. Liberals intentionally conflate Islam and Islamism to make the criticizing of Islamism or Islamist politics (be they Islamist immigration into the West or the Muslim quest to liberate Jews from Israel - to rejoin a state of Muslim Palestine with the global Caliphate) as racist and taboo.

Not all Muslims are Islamist, but all Islamists are motivated by orthodox Islam- and to inhibit criticizing the Islamist movement to Islamize the world is to imperil the West's defenses to it. Westerners who came of age in the past 16-years are not commonly exposed to the motivations of the attackers. Manhattan journalist, Daniel Greenfield, who was affected by the 2001 attack, addresses the issue in a series of essays and exclusive interview he conducted with Democracy Broadcasting from the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.

Mr. Greenfield  reads from his essay in this interview, conducted in the 9/11 Memorial Garden in Beverly Hills, following the Beverly Hills Fire Department's 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at dusk. Article is excerpted below. 

"In the years since 2001, I have seen that look on the faces of countless leftists who ignore the stabbers shouting, “Allahu Akbar” in London or the terrorist declaring, "In the name of Allah, the merciful," among the bloody ruin of a gay nightclub in Orlando. Instead they focus on their mindless slogans.

“NO WAR,” “Stop Islamophobia” and “Refugees Welcome.” The world of the cardboard sign and the simple slogan is an easier and neater one than a sky filled with the ashes of the dead.

On September 11, some of us opened our eyes. Others closed them as hard as they could.

That Tuesday irrevocably divided my generation. Some joined the military, the police or became analysts. Others turned left-wing activists, volunteered as lawyers for terrorists or converted to Islam.

The passengers on Flight 93 who took the lead were in their thirties. But the two firefighters who made it to the 78th floor of the South Tower, Ronald Bucca, who did duty in Vietnam as a Green Beret, and Orio Palmer, a marathon runner, were in their forties. Those men and women had the most meaningful answers to the old question, “Where were you when it happened?” I was just one of countless people moving upstream away from Ground Zero.



The great lesson of that Tuesday morning was that it wasn’t over. It wasn’t over when we understood that we wouldn’t find anyone alive in that twisted mass of metal and death. It wasn’t over when the air began to clear. It wasn’t over when the President of the United States spoke. It wasn’t over when the planes began to fly again and the TV switched from non-stop coverage of the attacks and back to its regularly scheduled programming. It wasn’t over when we were told to mourn and move on.

It still isn’t over. After every attack, Boston, Orlando, San Bernardino, New York, Paris, Manchester, London, Barcelona, we are encouraged to mourn and move on. Bury the bodies, shed a tear and forget about

it. Terrible things happen. And we have to learn to accept them.


But Tuesday morning was not a random catastrophe. It did not go away because we went back to shopping. It did not go away with Hope and Change. Appeasing and forgetting only made it stronger.

Everything I needed to know about Islam, I learned on September 11. The details of the theology came later. I couldn’t quote the Koran while the sirens were wailing. But I learned the essential truth.  And so did you."

Mr. Greenfield assesses America's misplaced politically-correct reluctance to address Islamism and how it inhibits our cultural defense to Islamo-Fascist influence.

The Right 9/11 Memorial by Daniel Greenfield in The Point, Sept 11, 2017"The terrorists and the memorial-makers have a common purpose-- to make us forget what we are capable of. To drown us in our own pain and grief, to make us drink of the Lethe waters of reflecting pools until we forget who we are. The terrorists and the memorials have done their best to break us. But it is not in grief that we must remember the day. Grief is for the foregone conclusion. But though thousands upon thousands are lost-- we are not yet lost. And the war is not over.

The holes in the ground are not symbols of grief, or empty places in our hearts, they are open wounds inflicted on us by our enemies. Filling them with water will not change that, only anesthetize the pain of a fatal injury. To forget that is to sink into a mirage and die in delirium that we are recovering.

The attacks of September 11 are not a time for reflection, or personal remembrance, but a sharp reminder that we are bleeding. And we can only bleed for so long before we die. There are worse things out there than four hijacked planes used as missiles. There are actual missiles and suitcase nukes, nerve gas, toxins and whatever else can be dredged out of laboratories by Western trained researchers.

And even worse than these is the endless struggle, the constant waiting for another attack, the security measures meant to keep us safe while imprisoning us in our own security, the waiting for the day when an attack succeeds. The day we die.


September 11 is not the day we cry, it is the day we get angry. It is the day we remember who our killers were, how many have been lost, and how little has been done to bring down the ideology responsible as completely as they brought the towers down. It is the day we remember not to forget. It is the day we remember that the war has just begun and that until it ends, there can be no comfort or solace. The fight goes on."
