Earlier this month, the Islamic State (ISIS) launched a massive media campaign in support of the insurgency in Sinai. Officials from 14 of its so-called provinces in Iraq, Libya, and Syria released videos promoting an Egyptian affiliate group, Sinai Province. The videos feature typical ISIS themes, such as condemnations of apostate Arab and Western governments, glorification of successful attacks, and praise for martyred brethren. What sets these videos apart, however, is the sheer number released at once, as well as their focus on Sinai, which previously played a relatively minor role in ISIS propaganda.

This media blitz could mark a turning point in ISIS strategy. The group has lost territory in Iraq and Syria, and the videos could signal a reorientation toward North Africa. ISIS may also be trying to boost morale and recruit new members. Finally, the releases could portend ISIS’ growing interest in Israel, and might suggest that the country could be the caliphate’s next target.

The scale of the Sinai campaign is nearly unprecedented, rivaled only by an earlier media blitz against the monarchy of Saudi Arabia—a natural target given its significance as the birthplace of Islam and site of its two holiest places. That series, released in December 2015, excoriated the ruling family for working with “Crusader” states like the United States, and called on Saudis to join ISIS’ branch in the kingdom. Similarly, the latest videos accuse the Egyptian government of tyranny, condemning Cairo’s ties to Saudi Arabia and the United States. 

The videos also extend their criticism to the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated former President Mohamed Morsi for his alliances with secular governments, such as Turkey, and chastise the Brotherhood for ruling Egypt under “man-made” rather than Islamic law. 

The series warns Egyptians against adopting the “new religion” of democracy, and urge them to “wake up and realize [their] salvation is with sharia.” They play up Sinai’s location as the “land of the prophet Moses,” denounce Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as a new Pharaoh, and curse him for “protecting the Jews.”

In addition to criticizing the Egyptian government, the latest videos dub Sinai the “gateway to Palestine,” from which ISIS will “liberate” Jerusalem and its iconic al-Aqsa Mosque. The videos show Egyptian leaders and military officials meeting Israeli counterparts, and call Israel’s Jews “victims in waiting,” whom ISIS will deal with after the Egyptian “apostates.” As one fighter warns, Israelis will soon meet the same fate as their supposed Egyptian collaborators: “the knives used to slice open the necks of your spies will slaughter your soldiers tomorrow.”

"Germany expects a total of around 800,000 people to seek asylum in Germany this year. And that’s just Germany. The entire continent of Europe is being inundated with refugees at a rate unprecedented in world history. This is no longer just a “refugee crisis.” This is a hijrah.

Hijrah, or jihad by emigration, is, according to Islamic tradition, the migration or journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Yathrib, later renamed by him to Medina, in the year 622 CE. It was after the hijrah that Muhammad for the first time became not just a preacher of religious ideas, but a political and military leader. That was what occasioned his new “revelations” exhorting his followers to commit violence against unbelievers. Significantly, the Islamic calendar counts the hijrah, not Muhammad’s birth or the occasion of his first “revelation,” as the beginning of Islam, implying that Islam is not fully itself without a political and military component.



To emigrate in the cause of Allah – that is, to move to a new land in order to bring Islam there, is considered in Islam to be a highly meritorious act. “And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many locations and abundance,” says the Qur’an. “And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.” (4:100) The exalted status of such emigrants led a British jihad group that won notoriety (and a shutdown by the government) a few years ago for celebrating 9/11 to call itself Al-Muhajiroun: The Emigrants.

And now a hijrah of a much greater magnitude is upon us. Evidence that this is a hijrah, not simply a humanitarian crisis, came last February, but was little noted at the time and almost immediately forgotten. The Islamic State published a document entitled, “Libya: The Strategic Gateway for the Islamic State.” Gateway into Europe, that is: the document exhorted Muslims to go to Libya and cross from there as refugees into Europe. This document tells would-be jihadis that weapons from Gaddafi’s arsenal are plentiful and easy to obtain in Libya – and that the country “has a long coast and looks upon the southern Crusader states, which can be reached with ease by even a rudimentary boat.” . . .



Of course, not all of these refugees are Islamic jihadis. Not all are even Muslims, although most are. However, no effort whatsoever is being made to determine the refugees’ adherence to Sharia and desire to bring it to their new land. Any such effort would be “Islamophobic.” Yet there are already hints that the Islamic State is putting its plan into effect: jihadis have already been found among the refugees trying to enter Europe. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi addressed the United Nations General Assembly’s 69th Session, stressing Egypt’s commitment to tackling the “plague” of terrorism while hundreds of supporters stood outside the United Nations in New York.

Upon being called to the podium, the Egyptian President was received with a loud applause from delegates, including world heads of state, of the General Assembly. The applause visibly pleased President Sisi, who immediately acknowledged it by smiling and putting his hands together in a sign of gratitude.




‘A New Egypt’

Minutes after commencing, the President was met with another applause after declaring the intentions of Egyptians to build a “New Egypt.”

“Our aim is to build a new Egypt,” said the President before being interrupted by the clapping of the hall.

“A state that respects the rights and freedoms, honours its duties, and ensures the co-existence of its citizens without exclusion or discrimination. A state that respects and enforces the rule of law, guarantees freedom of opinion for all and ensures freedom of belief and worship to its people. A state that is determined to achieve growth, prosperity, and a promising future that meets the aspirations of its people,” declared the President after silence had returned to the General Assembly.

To attain this promise, the President stressed that the State should respect and enforce the rule of law, guarantee freedom of speech and religion, and work towards the growth and prosperity of the country.

At the start of his speech, President Sisi had addressed criticism of Egypt’s road map since the ouster of deposed President Mohammed Morsi.

The President said Egyptians had made history in the past two years by first revolting against corruption and despotism to claim their right to freedom, dignity and social justice, and then when they rose up against exclusion and refused to succumb “to the tyranny of a faction who, in the name of religion, put its narrow interests before the interests of the people.”

Terrorism and the threats on the world

The world is starting to grasp the reality of what happened in Egypt, and to understand the circumstances that drove Egyptians to intuitively take to the streets to rebel against the forces of extremism and darkness,” explained the President in his 17-minute speech.

The President added that Egypt had warned the world about the spread of terrorism at the hands of extremist groups.

“The upsurge in extremism and violence perpetrated in the name of religion that the region is currently witnessing is an evidence of the true objectives of these groups that exploit religion,” said Sisi.

“They have transformed the values of justice, compassion and mercy treasured by Judaism, Christianity and Islam, into grim sectarianism and destructive civil and regional wars which continue to claim the lives of innocent people of different religions.”

The President, who showed confidence in his words, asserted that Egypt has suffered from the scourge of terrorism since the 1920s at the hands of a ‘handful of extremists that commit atrocities in the name of religion.’

However, Sisi added that these extremists should not be allowed to abuse Islam and offend the 1.5 billion Muslims across the globe.

“Terrorism is a plague that does not differentiate in its spread between developing and developed societies.”

Tackling problems in the region

Egypt’s President said that extremism and polarisation had led to strife and divisions in the region.

The President called for states in the region to ensure equality among citizens and respect for the rule of law. Sisi added that confronting extremism was also essential in tackling the various crises the region faces.

On Libya, Sisi said that Egypt had partnered with the country’s neighbours to achieve a comprehensive political solution aimed at ending bloodshed and helping strengthen and support elected Libyan institutions.

Turning to Syria, the President added a political framework which reflected the aspirations of the Syrian people without compromising with terrorists or extremists was necessary.

Meanwhile, Sisi hailed the formation of a new government in Iraq, stating that it was a significant development in the path to achieving stability and regaining territories that have fallen under the control of ISIL.

In regards to Palestine, the President stated that the Palestinian issue remained a top priority for Egypt.

“Palestinians still aspire to establish their independent state on the occupied territories in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” said the President, adding that Egypt had worked to achieve this goal since the 1970s.

“The continued deprivation of the Palestinian people of their rights is undoubtedly exploited by some to inflame other crises, achieve hidden goals, fragment Arab unity, and impose control on Palestinians under the guise of realising their aspirations.”

Africa was also the focus of President Sisi’s speech. The President urged the world to commit to tackling the outbreak of the deadly ebola virus in Western Africa and reaffirmed Egypt’s continued desire to work with its African partners.

Security Council and Final Applause

Ending his speech, Egyptian President Sisi announced his country’s bid for non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council in 2016-2017.

The President added that Egypt, which was last on the Security Council in 1997, aspires to take the seat in 2016 in order to achieve the protect the interests of developing countries as well as to accelerate reform of the United Nations system.

Sisi invited member states to support Egypt’s candidature to the Security Council, adding that as a founding member of the United Nations, Egypt’s vision of international relations is one founded on the respect of the principles of international law, treaties and conventions.

Moments before concluding his speech, the President was once more interrupted with applause upon declaring “long live Egypt!”

“Long live Egypt. Long live the loving people’s of the world. Long live the principles of humanity and the values of tolerance and coexistence. Peace be upon you and God’s mercy and blessings.

Prof. Barry Rubin's death revives interest in video interview about his views on west's Mid-East policies

Barry Rubin, a prominent Middle East policy analyst, died in
Israel on Monday following an 18-month struggle with lung cancer. Prof. Rubin survived just past his 64th birthday.  He is survived by his journalist wife, Judith Colp Rubin, and their daughter and son.

Barry Rubin’s reach in the world of Middle East scholarship was broad and deep.  He served as director of the Global Research in International Affairs Center at the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center, a columnist at The Jerusalem Post, the editor of the Middle East Review of International Affairs and a contributor to the PJ Media website.

Rubin, a D.C. native, had been a Fulbright scholar and a fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations. He received his doctorate from Georgetown University in 1978. He was a noted skeptic of Palestinian nationalism, saying that Islamism was too deeply embedded in the region to accommodate a true peace with Israel.


“Clearly, the Obama administration does not understand Middle Eastern regimes and terrorist organizations, and if it doesn’t, it will meet miserable defeats,” he wrote on Jan. 12 at PJMedia.

But as I noted above, this U.S. policy of Obama’s second term will fail. For example, the main goals of the second term are four big issues:

1)  Israel-Palestinian peace

2) Egypt government coalition with Muslim Brotherhood

3) Syrian civil war resolution with rebel victory

4)  U.S.-Iran rapprochement resolving nuclear issue.

Radicals will just raise their demands and demonstrate their anti-Americanism, and necessary priorities will shift.

"Russia-Iran Axis Gets Access" by Barry Rubin in PJ Media

The original supposed intent of this whole Syria exercise–punishing Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons–has achieved zero. In fact,  it has backfired.

“Russian credibility is not in question,”  my colleague Dr. Jonathan Spyer pointed out, American credibility is in question.

“The Russian weapons lifeline to the dictator is buzzing with increased activity,” Spyer continues.  ”The arms ships that make their way from the Ukrainian port of Oktabyrsk have increased in number in recent weeks, shipping analysts say. They are bringing the vital spare parts for Assad’s planes and tanks.”

But there’s more.

Was this a pay-off for the Putin-Syria deal to get Iran to agree? Was it an advantage that the Kremlin grabbed in order to show that Russia can do anything it wants now? If so, it was a heavy one indeed. Pay close attention.

Russian media reported Moscow is selling Iran five batteries of S-300 missiles for $700 million. The sale was frozen three years ago when the UN imposed sanctions. Russia will probably claim the weapons are for defense.

And of course, it is for defense, presuming Iran needs to defend a nuclear reactor or missile bases from Israel.

This step tightens the Iran-Russia alliance, presumably a way to make Iran feel more secure as it backs Syria. Russia may also have made an agreement to build a second nuclear reactor in Bushehr.

In other words, the Russia-Iran alliance is stronger; America is weaker; Syria is more secure, though it is still a very long way to win the civil war. But Iran—where the Obama Administration is cutting the sanctions—is more powerful and further away from any effective containment.

Here is Ammar Abdulhamid, who is an honorable and  sincere Syrian supporter of moderate rebels but knows he isn’t finding any:

“So the Russians have put on the table a plan whose implementation requires thousands of peacekeepers and experts working together over a period of several years to dismantle Assad’s chemical supplies and production capabilities. In practice, this requires cessation of all hostilities by all parties, in other words, an end to the civil war.”

 ”End the civil war and the Russian plan can work. But how do we end the civil war? Well, how about a limited strike against Assad’s military and security establishment to convince him to cease hostilities? There you go, we’re back where we started: in order to make Russia’s plan work we need to strike Assad, and in order to strike Assad, we need an American President who is willing to do it and does not go into convulsions each time we get to this point.”

I unfortunately don”t agree with Abdulhamid, but I would if he had received the moderate opposition he wanted.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth O’Bagy, who became famous overnight by being quoted as the rationale for saying Syrian rebels are moderates by Kerry, McCain, and the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal, was fired by her pro-rebel lobbying group for faking her PhD.

 Turns out she DID lie about her PhD,  BUT they had to get rid of her without pointing to the real scandal that the Syrian rebels are not moderate.

Did anyone learn anything? Again, they really fired her for embarrassment, because it showed that State Department just bought intelligence it wanted–saying Syrian rebels are moderate–by Kerry, McCain, theWashington Post and Wall Street Journal. A few months later she said the opposite.

Syrian-Americans demonstrate in L.A. for and against U.S. involvement- but is the conflict actually about something other than chemical weapons of mass destruction?

What to do with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad—the big question led to a big protest of about 300 Syrian Americans the Los Angeles Federal Building last month.

But the demonstrators were split. Supporters of Assad and protestors against his regime chanted, sang and danced, and accused the other side of lying. Both sides got into arguments, throwing derogatory terms at the opposition. Police were on hand to occassionally calm tensions.

The Anti-Assad demonstrators explained their movement and goals at counter-rally at Federal Building in Los Angeles.  Ms. Hadia Attar, Dr. Azzawi, and Hicham Alani explain why they condemn the Assad regime.

Many supporters of the Assad regime played patriotic music to dance with during the protest. They said they didn’t want American intervention in the conflict, a move they said would likely be in the interest of profit.

Johnny Achi, of Arab-Americans for Syria, said dialogue was the way to peace, and blamed terrorists armed by the U.S., Saudi Arabia and Qatar for the massacre.

“Today in Syria, we have 50 Bin Ladens,” Achi said. “The suicide bombers are killing the policemen and minorities. We are all threatened.”

Achi said he thought his president had done well in trying to reach out to the opposition. “We are more democratic than other countries in the region." 

But the other side doesn’t agree. Anti-Assad protestors said the president was responsible for the mass killings.  Demonstrator Omar Attar said everything is monitored there, she said, including the Internet and phone calls. Neighbors disappear for no reason.

The world is confused about the real reasons for U.S. military action.  Obama's reneging on his Red-Line promise to act when chemical weapons would be used has Israel worried that she trusted his promise to take care of Iran's nuclear weapons if she laid-back before the 2012 election, which she did.  What is the Syrian issue all about? Why has the little nation of Qatar spent 3 billion dollars to support the rebels in Syria? Could it be because Qatar is the largest exporter of liquid natural gas in the world and Assad won't let them build a natural gas pipeline through Syria? Of course. Qatar wants to install a puppet regime in Syria that will allow them to build a pipeline which will enable them to sell lots and lots of natural gas to Europe. 

 Why is Saudi Arabia spending huge amounts of money to help the rebels and why has Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan been "jetting from covert command centers near the Syrian front lines to the Élysée Palace in Paris and the Kremlin in Moscow, seeking to undermine the Assad regime"? Well, it turns out that Saudi Arabia intends to install their own puppet government in Syria which will allow the Saudis to control the flow of energy through the region. 

On the other side, Russia very much prefers the Assad regime for a whole bunch of reasons. One of those reasons is that Assad is helping to block the flow of natural gas out of the Persian Gulf into Europe, thus ensuring higher profits for Gazprom. 

 Now the United States is getting directly involved in the conflict. If the U.S. is successful in getting rid of the Assad regime, it will be good for either the Saudis or Qatar (and possibly for both), and it will be really bad for Russia. This is a strategic geopolitical conflict about natural resources, religion and money, and it really has nothing to do with chemical weapons at all.  Read more:

The deputy of slain U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens has told congressional investigators that a team of Special Forces prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks was forbidden from doing so by U.S. Special Operations Command South Africa. 

Gregory Hicks told congressional investigators that if the U.S. had quickly sent a military aircraft over Benghazi, it might have saved American lives. The U.S. Souda Bay Naval Base is an hour's flight from Libya.

"I believe if we had been able to scramble a fighter or aircraft or two over Benghazi as quickly as possible after the attack commenced, I believe there would not have been a mortar attack on the annex in the morning because I believe the Libyans would have split. They would have been scared to death that we would have gotten a laser on them and killed them," Hicks testified. Two Americans died in the morning mortar attack. I think everybody in the mission thought it was a terrorist attack from the beginning.”

Gregory Hicks is one of the witnesses called to testify this week before the House Oversight Committee about the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

Shortly after the attack, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice characterized the assault as a spontaneous attack. The Obama administration later said it was an act of terror.

“Clearly, there was a political decision to say something different than what was reasonable to say,” House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said on “Face The Nation.”

Obama waved-off rescue forces

It has been alleged that the Benghazi attack sprung out of complications with the White House and State Dept shipping arms from Khadaffi's arsenal to Islamist revolutionaries to conquer Syria.  Pres. Barack Obama, campaigning for re-election at this time, attributed the attacks and concomitant Muslim protests in Egypt (which spread) to Muslim offense to the July 2012 published, "The Real Life of Muhammed" (aka "Innocence of Muslims") video, produced by Coptic Christian, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.

The film criticized Egyptian authorities' unwillingness to protect Christians against Muslim intolerance,antagonism, and violence- and various Muslim shibboleths.

The Obama administration blamed the death of 4 Americans, including Chris Stevens, on the film's blaspheming Islam- and attempted to taboo criticizing Islamism, political Islam.

Christian filmaker, Sam Bacile, scapegoated by Obama

A national witch-hunt began to scapegoat the "Innocence" filmmaker, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula for the thought-crime of Islamphobia, which triggered the international Arab violent "protests." Federal prosecutors found grounds to charge Nakoula with lying regarding his role in the film and his use of the alias "Sam Bacile" and sentenced him to one year in prison and 4-years of supervised release.

Update May 8, 2013: Deputy Chief of US Mission to Libya Gregory Hicks testified to the congressional hearing on the Benghazi attack that the Administration's scapegoated  "YouTube video" was, in actuality, "a non-event in Libya."

Following the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack, Democracy Broadcasting reported about the media's subjectivity in failing to investigate Benghazi as political terrorism - which would challenge the campaigning Obama's tout that he had successfully eliminated Islamism as a threat to US interests by Obama's overseeing the military's killing of Usama bin-Laden.

On September 21st, former Democratic pollster and analyst Pat Caddell said, “I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.”

Caddell noted that while First Amendment protections were originally provided to the press so they would protect the liberty and freedom of the public from “organized governmental power,” they had clearly relinquished the role of impartial news providers.
Nowhere was this more evident than during the tragic death of a U.S. ambassador in Libya that was covered up for nine days because the press and the administration did not want to admit it was a terrorist attack.

“We’ve had nine days of lies over what happened because they can’t dare say it’s a terrorist attack, and the press won’t push this,” said Caddell. “Yesterday there was not a single piece in The New York Times over the question of Libya. Twenty American embassies, yesterday, are under attack. None of that is on the national news. None of it is being pressed in the papers.” Read more.

The press' avoiding to challenge any of the several dubious aspects of this story- the gun-running, the terrorism, or the attempt to make taboo Islamophobia, criticism of Islam or Islamism, and advocate for new, national and international blasphemy laws- self-suppressed responsible challenges to Obama's re-election and contributed to our social climate of intolerance towards criticizing anything Islamic or Islamically motivated, such as the Boston Marathon bombings by Muslim-Americans.

Syrian goons fire, killing at least 75 civilian freedom demonstrators; 250 killed this month

Rights groups and activists say at least 75 people were killed in Syria on Friday, after security forces opened fire on anti-government protesters who rallied across the country.

The toll would make Friday the deadliest single day of protests in the country since the anti-government uprising began in March.

Witnesses and activists say security forces used live ammunition and tear gas on protesters, who poured onto the streets after Friday prayers and called for President Bashar al-Assad's immediate departure.

The deaths were reported in areas including the southern Daraa region, the central city of Homs and communities near the capital, Damascus.

In Washington, U.S. President Barack Obama condemned the latest use of force and said the Syrian government's "outrageous'' use of violence against the protesters must "end now.''

Israeli journalist discovers ransacked Kristallnacht Judaica near Berlin

Israeli journalist, Yaron Svoray, says he has found what could be a dump site used for the debris from Kristallnacht, the night 70 years ago in 1938 that the Nazis unleashed a wave of destruction & murder on Jews throughout Austria and Germany.

Failure to heed the warnings Kristallnacht portended, resulted in the deaths of 50 million Europeans in World War II. Proof was highlighted this weekend in Germany's Bild newspaper:

"Original plans for the Auschwitz death camps have been discovered in Germany."

"Original plans for the construction of the Nazi extermination camp of Auschwitz, including a gas chamber and crematorium, have been found in a Berlin apartment, a newspaper reported Saturday.

The daily Bild published copies of some of the 28 plans, which the head of Germany’s federal archives, Hans-Dieter Krekamp, called “authentic proof of the systematically planned genocide of the Jews of Europe.”



There are dates on the plans: It said they were dated between 1941 and 1943 and stamped, “Waffen-SS and Police Construction Directorate.” Some were signed by senior SS officials and one initialed by the head of the Nazi ideological corps, Heinrich Himmler.

Kreikamp told the newspaper the documents were “extraordinarily important.”

One plan, drawn by a detainee as early as November 1941, when experiments in eliminating prisoners were already under way, had a gas chamber clearly labeled, Bild said.

Another showed a crematorium with places for ovens marked, and storage space for bodies."

SS chief Heinrich Himmler, who oversaw the Nazi extermination program, appears to have marked his initials on one of the pages, in green ink.

These documents invalidate revisionist historians and Holocaust-minimizers, according to web-publisher Meryl Yourish:

This evidence contradicts directly MSNBC commentator Pat Buchanan’s claims that it was the intervention of Britain that caused the Germans to start murdering the Jews.

That Hitler was a rabid anti-Semite is undeniable. “Mein Kampf” is saturated in anti-Semitism. The Nuremberg Laws confirm it. But for the six years before Britain declared war, there was no Holocaust, and for two years after the war began, there was no Holocaust.

Today's example of ignoring the warning signs- the media's disparaged Israeli strike on Syria's nuclear weapons facility (ostensibly aimed at the Jewish nation) Israel National News' Maayana Miskin reports that

investigators for the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have found traces of uranium contamination at the site of an Israeli air strike in Syria, diplomats told Reuters and German media sources on Monday. The report is the first sign of a “smoking gun” proving that Syria was in fact building a secret nuclear reactor on the site, as Israel and the United States have insisted.

And the result of ignoring the action towards the Jews is revealed in the global Jihad and its facilitators in the Obama administration:

Several sources report that President-elect Barack Obama lied about divesting his team of Robert Malley as his Middle-East foreign policy advisor, and has in fact sent him to Syria to tip-them-off to the incoming, contradictory, U.S. Middle-East agenda- more pro-Arab, and less-supportive of Israel. Egypt's Daily Star Newspaper reports:

It emerged that Obama had sent his senior foreign policy advisor Robert Malley to both Cairo and Damascus these past few weeks to outline the president-elect’s plans for the region, which indicates a willingness to further strengthen ties with staunch US ally Egypt and begin boosting relations with Syria.

Israel National News reports:

"The tenor of the messages was that the Obama administration would take into greater account Egyptian and Syrian interests," an aide to Malley was quoted as saying. The aide said Obama plans to launch a U.S. diplomatic initiative toward Syria. Malley met both Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad "to explain Obama's agenda for the Middle East."

The Jerusalem Post reports that subsequently:

Syrian President Bashar Assad accused Israel on Sunday of not being genuine in its professed desire for peace with its Arab neighbors and criticized a proposed US-Iraqi security agreement that would keep American troops in Iraq for three more years. In a speech to Arab parliamentarians in Damascus, Assad said Israel must prove it desires peace by offering to withdraw from all territories captured during the Six Day War.

"Until this moment, we still see that the peace slogan is used as part of an internal political game in Israel and as a major factor in external political maneuvers," the Syrian president said.

History has shown that examples of enmity towards the Jewish people (or the Jewish state) have served as reliable indicators of tyrannical threats to the world - if you heed them in time.
