"Decline and Fall of America? Not Yet" - by writer David Mamet

Trump appears to have broken the codependency of the woke - and averted a destructive revolution.
 - A commentary by David Mamet, playwright, film director and screenwriter. Published in Wall St. Journal, Friday 22 Nov '24

For the past four years Israel has been the leader of the free world. The Jewish state has been the West’s sole protection against Islamist terror, fighting while reviled by the people and countries it was protecting. Its position was similar to that of Donald Trump—demonized, persecuted, targeted for violence.

Now that Israel and the U.S. will again be allies, we can hope Iran will be returned to the Iranian people, Gaza will become a wealthy city-state, and there will be that biblical peace in which each may sit under his fig tree and be unafraid.

Moses sent 12 spies to scout out the Promised Land. They returned and reported it was a good land, filled with milk and honey, but it was populated by giants so large “we must have looked to them like grasshoppers, and that is how we seemed to ourselves in our own eyes.”

David Mamet shook-up liberal fans by dissenting from
leftist shibboleths at L.A. Times Fest of Books, April '24

Moses admonished them that they had been asked for their report, which gave their people information, rather than for their opinion, which made everyone afraid. The cowardice of the spies caused the 40 years of wandering, as Moses kept the Jews in the desert until that generation had died off.

God’s promise to the Jews, their fear and his rejection is a universal human myth. The hero is given a task he rejects. In the first instance he must confront himself and choose bravery over cowardice. The mythic hero is aided by the Word of God, contemporary Westerners by heroic example. Winston Churchill inspired in his country’s populace an awareness of their own greatness. So does Mr. Trump.

Yet half of America not only abides but fervently supports a codependent decline to poverty, crime and a nascent police state. Why? The leftist politicians and their media courtiers and designated beneficiaries profited from the perks of power. But why did the everyday American endorse them and their fear mongering? The actual threat wasn’t global warming, Islamophobia, the Supreme Court, the police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement or Mr. Trump. It was exclusion from the herd.

An existential secret is one whose revelation would destroy the group. If dad is a drug addict or a sex criminal, acknowledging it would shatter the family. The protection of the secret becomes the family’s unifying endeavor. If anyone says anything, it might reveal that everyone is in on the secret. The sick family devotes all necessary energies to collusion—to mutual and self-censorship.

During the past four years, American politics has been dominated by a coalition each of whose members, like codependent kin, has its own investment in group integrity and the power it derives therefrom. The superrich, academia, Islamists, Marxists and the media have colluded to suppress the true and impose the false.
We know that their perfidies, lawfare, slander, blacklisting and civil persecution were practiced on conservatives and Republicans, particularly on Mr. Trump. But the suppression was targeted primarily at their own voters.

To remain unthreatened by reason, the liberal populace had to be convinced to endorse various lies and fantasies: Black Lives Matter, Israel’s perfidy, unlimited abortion as a woman’s right, men’s right to compete in women’s sports, the abolition of the police, Mr. Trump’s demonic power and so on.

Why would rational people vote to destroy their borders, their cities, their jobs and their children? For the same reason the sick family must tolerate its dysfunction: The co-opted liberal electorate was terrified that any deviation would result in destruction of its protective unit. As it would.

In the energy devoted to accommodating lies, the mind puts them in the same category as truth. The codependent pays a huge price from them: his self-respect. President Biden suffers cognitive decline; the administration and the legacy media hid that fact and suppressed its discussion. They did the same with the chaos at the border, crime, inflation, the putsch of Mr. Biden and his replacement through fiat.

Before June 27, almost all Democrats and media outlets insisted that Mr. Biden was sharp and focused. On July 21, he was ousted from the campaign, and the hagiography of Kamala Harris began. Conservatives’ requests for clarification of her role as “border czar” were labeled “misogynistic.” Her catch phrases were “joy” and “turn the page.” Why would she have wanted to turn the page on four years of the Biden administration, of which she said she would do nothing differently?

To the left, it didn’t matter. “She isn’t Trump” was sufficient reason to vote for her. Trump isn’t the devil, but a rational consideration of him and his achievements was beyond the liberal’s ability. Mr. Trump was the enemy because he represented a challenge they could not accept.

The transition from party-line liberal to reasonable citizen generally involves some degree of shame. The genius of 12-step programs is that shame in them can be aired, and, so diffused, in a company each of which has undergone a similar upheaval; where confessions of complicity and shame are greeted and diffused with recognition, laughter and welcome—as among new conservatives, and new devotees to citizenship.

Why would sentient Americans vote away the freedoms of thought, conscience, assembly and expression guaranteed by our Constitution? It makes sense, as any suicide does, as an act of survival. The suicide takes his own life to stop unbearable anguish. It is the most desperate act of self-preservation.

Prosperity, interconnectivity and their attendant confusions have led to chaos, the denigration of religion, the family, law and the nations whose identity was created out of the Judeo-Christian tradition. The U.K. now is prosecuting those standing silently across the street from abortion clinics. Should they testify that they were praying, they are guilty of a crime.

Since the ’20 election I have feared a new American revolution, the leftist government proclaiming its intent to destroy parents whom it calls terrorists and citizens whom it deems insurrectionists. During the past four years Mr. Trump—raided, indicted, convicted, sued, slandered and shot—continued to grow in popularity, and attracted the like-minded into a coalition stronger than that of the left.

To command, one must have lieutenants themselves capable of assuming command and inspiring subordinates. Their absence in 2020 led to that bump in the road; but their emergence and amalgamation in the last four years is now the Republican Party. This isn’t a cult of personality, but a group of citizen-workers, Americans who adore our country. We understand ourselves not primarily as Republicans or conservatives, but as “we the people.”

The horror of the past four years—the appeasement of terror, the slavish support of our enemies, the abandonment of the state of Israel, the assaults on free speech—seemed to me the descent into chaos which has been the end of every world power.

Rome, Greece, Nineveh and Tyre, Babylon, Nazi Germany—all were eventually returned to dust. I saw the irreversible decline of the U.S. and took comfort in the scripture. The Old Testament is a record of decline of those civilizations which fall away from God; and promises that a return to his precepts will restore his grace. We know that one day America, as all things, will go one with Nineveh and Tyre. But not today.

Holocaust's lessons being un-taught? Survivor of Nazi-labor camp and Israeli-American relate their views

UK schools are eliminating Holocaust history from curriculum- due to pressure from Muslims and their anti-Zionist, leftist sympathizers. US statistics show shocking ignorance about Holocaust among young people.

Israeli-American Girl Scout, Sivan Barashi, returned from a Scouts' trip to the Auschwitz Museum in Poland with a sense of the scope of the institutionalized genocide which she feels is not being adequately addressed in American schools' history curricula. Why might the subject discriminatorily be de-emphasized by Christians and/or liberals in public (and private) middle and secondary school education?

Nonagenarian, Daniel Szafran, survived the Nazi genocide of European Jewry as a slave laborer. Living in Las Vegas, he met with a small group of Israeli-American Girl Scouts who took an educational trip to the Auschwitz camp - where he was incarcerated. He doesn't feel that Holocaust education is emphasized sufficiently in America or even in Israel.

Mr. Natan Barashy bemoans leftist influence in minimizing history resulting in the Holocaust in educational curricula. He also condemns Democratic Socialists throughout the world buying-into the libel which reverses Israel's defense against Islamist-Imperialist, Iranian-armed, Palestinians as "aggressive" - but supporting the anti-Semitic Muslim world, religiously mandated to annihilate the Jews of the world in a Muslim-led Holocaust against Israel.

Daniel Greenfield: The War on You - How the Left and Silicon Valley are Destroying Freedom

How do you know what you believe to be true is accurate? The liberal bias that big-tech companies like Google do to bias the disseminating of non-liberal information on its platform has been confirmed by whistleblowers and undercover video on Project Veritas.

Liberals working at "open platforms" like Google, Bing, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter (with management complicity) discriminate against conservatives' views have operated without fear of government intervention under the Obama era. How, under the Trump administration, do non-liberal opinion-holders expressing views privately, online, or among co-workers and friends become affected?

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Fellow who addresses the issue of liberal / government over-reach in his The Point blog on FrontPage Magazine, addressed
a David Horowitz Freedom Center audience on 19 June '19. The talk (videoed here) is entitled  "The War on You - How the Left and Silicon Valley are Destroying Freedom."
Mr. Greenfield begins: "I hope your cell phones are turned off. I’m not saying this because I’m worried about interruptions. If you have a really creative ringtone and it goes off during the talk, I might try humming a few bars.
But Alexa, Siri, and the rest of the smart assistants never stop spying… am I allowed to say spying, or is James Comey going to pop up and object… and I’m going to say some very not nice things about Silicon Valley and you can never tell when those girls are listening.
If I come back home and there’s an Amazon Prime package with a horse’s head in it, I’ll know why.
...
The internet used to be about empowering individuals. Then the big dot coms like Google came along and made it a gated community. If you wanted to exist on the internet, you had to play by their rules.
Then social media came along and made the individual the center of the internet again.
You saw what Aunt Sally wanted you to see, instead of what Google wanted you to see.
After Trump won, the wheel began turning again. Social media is being censored, fact checked and transformed into another Google where somebody in San Francisco decides what you should see. And what you shouldn’t see.
Take YouTube, its whole pitch is that it’s about You. These days it’s censoring a whole bunch of you's, PragerU, Steven Crowder, James O’Keefe, because there’s no room for You on YouTube. ... "

(Mr. Greenfield's speech transcript continues below-the- fold).

Freedom Center editor and writer, Mark Tapson, discusses the normalizing of liberal fascism in the mainstream - and discrimination against libertarians and Republicans.

How discrimination by political affiliation has enabled Big-Tech to enforce a legal form of segregation. Follow Mr. Greenfield's curated "The Point" on FrontPage Magazine

From gold to dust - Californians consider alternatives to problematic, Democrat policies

Tim Draper's proposed partition of California into 3 states didn't make the November ballot  (photo: Legal Insurrection)

With 33-million residents, a growing number of illegal aliens over-burdening the social welfare systems, and large financial entitlement responsibilities, issues that California's next Governor must improve were explored at the American Freedom Alliance's "The destruction of California Conference" in August of last year.

Ms. Michael Lee Greer, the V.P. of American Freedom Alliance who writes at "Madder than Hell" explains the subjects that the group's conference "From Gold to Dust: The destruction of California" (20 Aug 2017) conference addressed.

She describes some of the expert speakers, which include Dr. Victor Davis Hanson, Sr. Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

American Freedom Alliance's Executive Director, Karen Siegemund, remarks on the need for the group's summer Conference to focus on "California: From Gold to Dust."

Classical scholar, Victor Davis Hanson, resides in Central California, educates at Stanford in Palo Alto, and addresses the political, economic, and cultural disparity between the liberal elites along the Pacific Coast and the rest of the state, 40 miles east of the coast.

Joe Mantegna reacts to journalist's smear of New Year's "Rose Parade" being led by patriot, Gary Sinise

Veterans advocates, Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna, have co-
hosted PBS' Nat'l Memorial Day Concert the past 12 years

Joseph Mantegna and Gary Sinise are two of Hollywood's greatest patriots. In addition to hosting PBS' National Memorial Day Concert broadcast for longer than a decade, they are advocates for American service-members and veterans. The Los Angeles Press Club presented Mr. Mantegna with their 2015 Visionary Award for using his "high-profile status to make the world a better place and to spread information about issues of freedom and importance."

Mr. Mantegna serves as Honorary Chairman for the Salute to Hospitalized Veterans. He has helped raise millions of dollars for various charities, including autism, as parent of an autistic daughter. Gary Sinise also performs work to benefit both active-duty and veteran US service-members.

US Air Force Band marches in New Year's Rose Parade
New Year's Day is one of America's most patriotic national holidays. Six college football bowl games will have been played during this weekend. The Rose Bowl is preceded by The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Monday's parade again commences with a fly-over by a USAF B-2 Spirit bomber.

Two of the 22 marching bands in Monday's parade represent America's military service-members: The U.S. Marines Drum and Bugle Corps, and the U.S. Marines West Coast Composite Band.

Gary Sinise accepts Parade's appointment as Grand Marshal
The theme of this New Years' Rose Parade is "Making a Difference."  On October 30th, Pres. Lance Tibbet, in announcing the Tournament of Roses' selection of Gary Sinise to be the 2018 Parade's Grand Marshal, described Making a Difference as "a way to honor and celebrate all of the people in our communities, who quietly and without desire for reward or recognition, act in selfless, generous and kind ways to aid or benefit others. Gary Sinise is absolutely one of those people. Gary’s humanitarian work with our defenders, veterans, first responders and their families over the years, embodies our theme to the fullest.”

Journalist, Dennis Romero, wrote article
disparaging Gary Sinise (photo: Aaron Salcido
at his 1/2016 Zocalo/ Getty Open Art interview)
The day after this appointment was announced, Dennis Romero, a staff reporter at the L.A. Weekly, created an article to condemn Mr. Sinise - "Rose Parade Criticized for Choosing Gary Sinise as Grand Marshal."

"But some critics are concerned that this could be a divisive choice. Sinise is a founder of a conservative group that gave early voice to then-presidential contender Donald Trump, who is now historically unpopular in California. . . . "It's not a good look for the city of Pasadena," says Maria Teresa Borden of the pro-immigrant group Indivisble Highland Park. "This is a region understood to be friendly to immigrants for centuries."
The next day, Stephen Kruiser, writing in PJ Media, reviewed Mr. Romero's piece:
Writer, Stephen Kruiser

"... the article is one long tantrum about President Trump that they are trying to make stick to Sinise. To say it's reaching would redefine understatement. The only actual fact about Sinise that the author points to involves him disagreeing with then-candidate Trump over his remarks about John McCain. Once mostly crypto-fascists, the American Left is letting its totalitarian, freak-flag fly more and more these days. The people who are making a stink about Sinise want to publicly condemn someone who has a connection (that is tenuous at best) to people who might have voted for Donald Trump last year. It's a kangaroo court of public opinion."

On December 3rd, Joe Mantegna came with his autistic daughter, Mia, to the L.A. Press Club's National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards to honor Sesame Street's co-founders - who added an autistic character to the show.

Mr. Mantegna was surprised to learn of Mr. Romero's stirring-up of animus for Mr. Sinise and the Rose Parade. Watch this DemoCast exclusive video interview to hear his reaction:

Stephen Kruiser summed up: "One would be hard pressed to find a prominent voice to speak ill of Gary Sinise. Google "Gary Sinise well respected" and you'll find a lot of mainstream media sources singing his praises. Using him as a vehicle to act out because they still haven't learned to emotionally deal with last year's election is yet another low for the "tolerant" liberal crowd."

Even Rush Limbaugh chimed in on Mr. Romero's hit-piece on the Rose Parade's appointment of Mr. Sinise. “This year’s theme is ‘making a difference.’ Sinise was cited for being a humanitarian and donating time and cash to veterans. They’re mounting an effort to deny Gary Sinise the opportunity to be the grand marshal of the 129th Rose Parade simply because he is supposedly a conservative."

Obama era crashes as Trump takes White House! Electoral votes reject liberal fascism

The Republican victory over the Democrats is profoundly characterized in these posts from Daniel Greenfield in FrontPage Magazine:

"AMERICAN UPRISING" Everything is about to change. FrontPage Magazine Nov 8, '16
This wasn’t an election. It was a revolution.
It’s midnight in America. The day before fifty million Americans got up and stood in front of the great iron wheel that had been grinding them down. They stood there even though the media told them it was useless. They took their stand even while all the chattering classes laughed and taunted them.

They were fathers who couldn’t feed their families anymore. They were mothers who couldn’t afford health care. They were workers whose jobs had been sold off to foreign countries. They were sons who didn’t see a future for themselves. They were daughters afraid of being murdered by the “unaccompanied minors” flooding into their towns. They took a deep breath and they stood. They held up their hands and the great iron wheel stopped.

THE OBAMA ERA IS OVER
Obama's legacy was dashed to pieces. His frantic efforts to campaign for Hillary did no good. The public did not vocally reject him. What they did was in its own way even worse. They brushed past him. They sidelined him. They gave him passable approval ratings while dismissing his biggest accomplishments. They forgot him. They made it clear that he did not matter.
And that is in its own way far more brutal and wounding. They didn't just destroy the Obama era. Instead they dismissed it as if it never existed.

"THERE IS NO PLAN": OBAMA NEVER BELIEVED IT COULD HAPPEN
For President Barack Obama, Donald Trump's presidential victory is nothing less than a nightmare.
His longstanding vision for progressive change faced sharp and unexpected repudiation Tuesday night from voters still fuming at their perceived diminished prospects.
By Obama's own admission, the major pieces of his presidential legacy are now subject to a gutting by a successor he resents deeply.-

Cal State L.A. students block ticket-holders from Ben Shapiro extending "diversity" to political viewpoints- with officials' complicity

Leftist-students and faculty protestors prevented school and community members from entering a public lecture by author, Ben Shapiro, at Calif State Univ at Los Angeles on Thursday, February 25th.

Organized by club Y.A.F. (Young America's Foundation/ Young Americans for Freedom) Mr. Shapiro's speech was cancelled by College President William Covino, but then begrudgingly permitted at the last minute. Students, accompanied by faculty, assaulted individuals who came to attend the lecture, and protested so violently that the police locked themselves in the auditorium, leaving people on the waiting line to the whims of the aggressive mob.

Campus police declined to get involved and control the mob to protect attendees from harrassment and assault at both the front and rear entrances.
College's actions validate author, Ben Shapiro's premise about liberal intolerance silencing diverse viewpoints

In this 7-minute story, we show what took place among the protestors and attendees outside the locked-out lecture. Mr. Shapiro is the author of (among several books),"Bullies: How the Left's Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences Americans." Inadvertently, the protesters confirmed his premise.

Ticket-holder, John Minter, attempts to inquire why one of the protesters assaulted him in the theater lobby- and on camera, he confronts both Mr. Minter and the cameraman. When we approached the group of police gathered down the stairs, they refuse to intercede between the aggressors and the attendees that the students harrassed. Amy Lutz of Young America Foundation explains her understanding that the police's directions came from the college President's office.
